Reader Review of the Week: 2008 Nissan Versa SL Hatchback

Reader Review In this week's reader review, Brad of Colorado gives the 2008 Nissan Versa hatchback his nod, citing its reliable handling, ample legroom and loads of cargo space. He also notes the very decent gas mileage and comfortable interior design. Read Brad's full review below. You can also submit your on reader review here.

"I purchased the 2008 Nissan Versa SL hatchback with Convenience Package, ABS and the six-speed manual transmission. A 1.8-liter engine won't beat many others off the light, but it's more than adequate for this vehicle and will cruise at highway speeds easily and steadily, without slowing on climbs. It's not built for slalom, but it still feels very comfortable and controllable changing lanes at highway speeds or on winding roads with acceptable body roll, even with its relatively high body profile.

It has very comfortable seating, even for a large man like myself, with more-than-ample legroom in the rear. Three seat belts in the rear will accommodate three adults only if they are very friendly with each other. Good for two adults or three teenagers (or younger), however. The controls are all easily within reach and easy to see, and it has exceptional cargo and passenger space for this class. The standard features and available options make this vehicle a top value. It has a very good safety record with front and side airbags, and side curtains front and rear. I drive conservatively, but am getting 33.2 mpg mixed driving with a six-speed manual transmission."

That's a great review and it's obvious the Versa is becoming a vehicle other import auto makers should be worried about. With so many small cars on the market with small prices, the Versa gives a new meaning to "a lot of bang, for the buck". 33mpg average is awesome.
