Video: 2009 Hyundai Sonata

2009 Hyundai Sonata Video

While some of us were checking out exotics like the Yes! Roadster at the Chicago Auto Show, Kelsey Mays dove head-first into the value-minded 2009 Hyundai Sonata. The sedate sedan may not look much different on the outside, but Kelsey gives a full roundup of the upgrades for 2009. Share this video via YouTube.

Looks like these cars are already arriving at dealerships. I was buying a car (for grandma) at a Hyundai store in KC yesterday, and they were unloading several '09 Sonatas off the delivery truck. It is a nice looking car, from the front it looks a lot like the Azera to me. I didnt look inside them, but from the pictures I have seen online, it looks like Hyundai fixed the cars weakest link, the interior.

Tom

The '09 Sonata's have been at dealerships for some time as I recently test drove a few. We were looking for a second car so we considered the Accord, Sonata, Camry, and Malibu. We ended up buying a Camry LE automatic for just $18,500 OTD. The Sonata was very attractively priced and drove very nicely, however spending just another $1,600 on the Camry was to good to pass up given it's brand value. The Accord was our original first choice, however it was at least $2,000 more than the Camry. The Malibu 4 cylinder was not a strong consideration as it did not impress us. I think anyone buying a Sonata will be very happy as it is a fine car with very tempting pricing.

Tom,
I think you did one smart choice. Camry is really cheap as dirt now. You can go for no more then invoice. And resale is good.
The depreciation is really what hurts Hyundai. Imagine, if you drive it a year and total it. You immediately lost a lot of money as they will only give you the market value. And Hyundai loses the biggest chunk in it's first year.
Camry is great average man's car and it brings the best value today.
