Ford Recalls 434,593 Mustangs
Ford has issued a recall for 434,593 Mustangs from the 2005-08 model years after tests by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration showed there could be increased risk of neck injury during airbag deployment. According to NHTSA's recall report, the risk of injury is greater for small females in the front passenger seat who are unbelted, sitting with their seat in the full-forward position.
To fix the problem, Ford dealerships will reprogram a restraint control module free of charge. Recalls are expected to begin Feb. 28. Consumers can call 866-436-7332 or email www.ownerconnection.com.

"According to NHTSA's recall report, the risk of injury is greater for small females in the front passenger seat who are unbelted, sitting with their seat in the full-forward position."
Haha! Is the quote above for REAL? They may as well have safety notices informing us also that your risk of death is greatly increased if you jump off bridges onto highways.
Seriously, do we REALLY need recalls to protect people from injury if they aren't buckled in? I'm pretty sure that if the crash is big enough to deploy an airbag, then being injured by said airbag (on the way through the windscreen) is probably the least of their worries...

Don't we still have some States that do NOT require seat belts? Not sure, but hey, even for those that DO require seat belts, many people don't put them on.
The statement may be a joke to u, Mart, but guess how many lawyers/attorneys earn their payments to their boats and mansions... (hint: w/o the statement) :)

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!
This recall is for skinny women who don't wear seatbelts, and sit all on the steering wheel.
I'm with mart- this may be the most ridiculous recall that I have EVER heard about!!!!
Seriously though, are smart bags supposed to deploy if you are not buckled in?

A recall is a recall and that is that Ford once again isn't great. If there are double standards when your beloved brands are involved. If air bags are really important, then the recall is important as well for the Ford Mustang. It is almost 450,000 models and that is a big number. By the way, the ford mustang isn't a sport car like people consider it is. And by stating that it is most favored by teens, that isn't true. I can name a lot of cars that are favored by teens, and Ford isn't on that list. The ford mustang also has problems that include that it can catch fire and it isn't an awesome car.
