Compare Green Vehicles With the Green Book

Trying to keep tabs on the slew of ostensibly green vehicles now hitting the market can be dizzying. One vehicle runs on compressed natural gas, so it must be green, but then there’s the Prius, which seems to get the most attention — being Earth-conscious can be intense. It’s almost enough to make you settle on a riding lawn mower; we hear those get great gas mileage.

Fortunately, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy is on the case. Much like congressional scorecards that help voters keep track of their representatives, the council uses its Green Book to “[rank] models from the worst polluters to the most environmentally friendly, by measures including tailpipe emissions, greenhouse gases and fuel economy,” according to The New York Times. Check out the Green Book here for the modest fee of $19.95 annually, which, if our calculations are correct, is roughly the price of a single gallon of gas.
