2009 Ford Flex In-Depth Gallery

2009fordflex

One upcoming model we’ve heard a lot of questions about is Ford’s new Flex crossover that’s coming out this summer. This faux-minivan has been hanging around the auto show circuit for almost a year, and we’ve covered it extensively in the past during those shows. We recently discovered Ford’s official page for the 2009 Flex and were a bit stunned at the amount of all-new photos on it.

The photos show off different color combinations, inside and out, including the different roof colors. We also get some up-close shots of important stuff like seating layouts and cupholders. We’ve dutifully put a gallery together for you below, and you can check out Ford’s official site here. A bit of a warning though: If you go to “Configure Your Own Flex,” the prices listed are NOT official; they’re for survey purposes. Ford will track the use of this site and perhaps alter the asking price of the vehicle and options.

If they make another "Vacation" movie, this should play the part of the family truckster. Who is going to buy this? At least "Fairlane" was a cooler name. It seems like Ford is answering the questions that nobody is asking.

The exterior of this vehicle does nothing for me. Give me a GMC Acadia any day of the week. However, the interior does look very nice; at least from the pictures provided.

It's just a big boxy station-wagon isn't it?

I'm still surprised this is classed as a crossover.

When does Ford get it?

Make the gauges readable!

My Civic has better cup holders than this.

I can't beleive some of these comments. I actually like it. I think it's a step in the right direction for Ford. It makes a nice minivan replacement. Too bad it won't be priced like a minivan. This vehicle with the Edge and Explorer America (if it comes to production) will make a nice 3-some in their line up. Then bring the European models to the U.S. and they might have something. But knowing Ford we won't see the European models, the Explorer America won't see production and this vehicle will be priced out of the market.

Ziggy,
I agree with you but also think Ford will bring more Euro cars her but not in the large vehicle segment since that's obviously a N. American thing.

I dig the different colors for the roof myself and its slowly growing on me. I think its the real world proportions that will sell it or not since it doesn't really come across in photos.

Also the "test" pricing I saw on the Ford website is pretty reasonable and below the GM 3-row crossovers. If this starts under those vehicles I think it will do well.

They need to fix the tachometer before they start selling it. It is blury and hard to read. :)

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a pretty interesting looking car. My main issue with it primarily is that it doesn't look to me like anything more than a big station wagon with a set of third row seats.

The looks have worn off on me a little since we have seen this car revealed for what feels like years, but it's still an effective piece of individual american design.

I don't don't see any real innovation in terms of packaging, and a such don't really get the "buzz"

"They need to fix the tachometer before they start selling it. It is blury and hard to read. :)"
Dude are you serious- its a picture that is out of focus.

Mart, I think it IS a big station wagon- whats so wrong with that?

Broq

I think Dan was kidding.

Didn't most SUVs and Minivans evolve from the 60's and 70's station wagons anyway? I think it has that modern yet retro feel.

Butch Scion xB comes to mind...

Looks like any Volvo wagon from the past decade. Thats not bad but... Interior is nice.

Saw this at the Philly Auto Show. Not very impressive in the flesh. Once this is out what is the need for the Taurus-X?

Even if the picture was in focus, what's with the speedo? Numbered only every 20?

What's wrong with a speedometer at every 20? I think it's cleaner than those ridiculous ones at every 10, or god forbid at every 2...

It is okay to have every 20, but for God sake, make the meter larger!

Before anyone doubts the Ford Flex they need to get behind the wheel. My current vehicle is a Lexus LS 430. I had resolved myself that I would never own another American car (GM) due to the last one I had. When it had 50k it was a constant issue.
So I happened to be at a Barrett-Jackson event and Ford had a very impressive display. Chip Foose version was there and I walked by it at least 20 times going around the show. It grew on me kind of like sushi. Here I was leaving the car auction and actually really considering it to replace my Lexus LS 430 when the lease comes up. For a family this is a great vehicle. I can freeze my kid’s ice cream bars for after a soccer game, I can load 2400 hundred songs into the Juke box, my kids can each have their own DVD screen in the headrests, Microsoft technology is great, the leather seats are so comfortable, and the list goes on and on…… So put away your negative thoughts and go drive one.
As far as Fords financial status being a concern I look at this way. Ford will never completely close it doors no matter what. Reorg is a possibility, but the union contracts need to be renegotiated and it won’t happen until they are deaths door. I feel for the employees whom have spent their entire working career there, but things happen in business and the U.S. car builders lost their market share. I hope to see the U.S. get their mojo back. As I am proud to be an American.

Thanks you,
Proud Wife - Working Mother
