Scion xB 5.0 Special Edition Coming in February
There are a lot of big events coming in February. The Super Bowl, Super Tuesday, the Academy Awards. Now, Scion’s also picked the month of St. Valentine to put its latest special edition on sale, the Scion xB 5.0. The limited edition has a body kit, special wheel covers — no, not special wheels — and a moonroof. It comes in only one color, Gold Rush Mica, and the color theme continues on the interior. The price for all this specialness is $2,470 over the base xB price of $15,650 for a manual transmission and $16,600 for the automatic. A special spoiler is an additional $320. Only 2,500 of the 5.0s will be produced, but we’re not sure it’s worth the price over what is a pretty well-equipped base model.

Doesn't matter if it's worth it. Since there will only be 2500 they'll be snapped up. Plus, it's the only one you can get with a moonroof.

This is "special", just like all the Pt Cruiser special editions are/were "special". All that stuff can be put on at the dealership level, even a moonroof.

"All that stuff can be put on at the dealership level, even a moonroof."
Diff is: dealership level installation not necessary covered by Toyota's warranty (so pray that there is no water leak in the moon roof), and not vice versa.

I'd never get a dealer-installed moonroof. Even if they covered under the warranty, factory roofs are far less prone to breaking 5-10 years later and it affects resale value.

I have had one, and it was almost identical to the ones offered by the factory, even the switch gear for it was similar (of course not the same though). And it came with a 3/36k warranty from ASC (American Sunroof Company).

It looks like the JDM bB.

I have never really liked the looks of this car, however I have seem tricked out xB's that don't look too bad. However, this "special edtition" is actually uglier than the standard xB in my opinion. What a horrible choice for a color, it looks terrible. And why would you do a body kit, and then special wheel covers? wtf? The way the car is done almost looks like a young kid that has money for the body kit, but is saving up to get the wheels later on.

Wow, that is a special kind of fugly.
2,500 vehicles isn't that limited considering Scion sold less than 50,000 xBs last year. I don't think gold is a particularly desirable color, so basically this is just an unnecessarily expensive xB.
fail.
