Chevy Volt Getting New Look

Chevyvolt

As GM prepares for extensive road-testing of its future plug-in-hybrid Volt, word came down from a key executive that the car won’t resemble the well-received concept. The edgy design, which looks futuristic, simply isn’t aerodynamic. The company tested the design in a wind tunnel and was disappointed with how poorly it performed; aerodynamics are key in gaining fuel efficiency. It seems the company has to go back to the drawing board on the Volt, likely disappointing many fans.

They just now test the design for aerodynamics! They've been showing this design for the last two years ... how a** backwards can you get.

GM just reinforced why I never buy GM-Ford-Chrysler. The clueless SOB's are still running the show.

We all have to remember that the Volt wasn't even supposed to be built anyway. GM was showcasing the technology more then anything. But the overall reaction to the car prompted them to build the Volt as is. Unfortunately, the styling won't be the same. Fortunately, GM is not going to sacrifice mileage to look cool.
The styling, however is supposed to represent the future of the Chevrolet brand, specifically the next Cobalt. After the Volt gets produce, I think we can expect the plug-in hybrid tech to trickle down to the other models.

No way the car will be made for MY 2010 when they don't even have the shape ready. GM does not move fast.

I'm amazed at the ignorance of the posters here. The Chevy Volt was first shown this past January at the Detroit auto show. My calendar
tells me the Volt has ben around less than one year, not the two years one bozo claims. Since the car will launch in late 2010, why on earth do some here on this board think that the fenders and grill need be frozen now? I'd say three years is more than enough time for Posawitz to do his magic, ala the new Camaro.

I don't know why the folks on this board don't knowabout gm-volt.com. If they did they wouldn't be making such obviously ignorant
statements about the Volt and when it will launch, how much time is required, etc. I'll
get my info fom the horse's mouth, not the other end, as is the case with brainless ziggy. He doesn't even know when the Volt was introduced - it wasn't two years ago, fella.
Why not acquire some knowledge before forming strong opinions?
