Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon Hybrids Priced Above $50,000

Tahoehybrid

We were impressed when we got to test drive the upcoming 2008 Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon Hybrids. Today, GM announced starting prices for these advanced, less-gas thirsty full-size SUVS and going green is going to be costly. The Tahoe two-wheel drive will start at $50,490, while the two-wheel drive Yukon will start at $50,945.

A Tahoe LTZ starts at $36,145 with a similarly well-equipped model hitting $45,680. If the equipment levels match, a $5,000 premium still sounds costly to us.

Four-wheel drive models will cost $53,295 and $53,755 for the Tahoe and Yukon respectively and all prices include a $900 destination charge. Tell us what you think: Is this too much to go green and still roll in a full-size SUV?

You're joking... right??? You can buy a standard Tahoe and Prius for less!!!

Well at least we now know that Detroit is still capable of getting the prices up. Can't build a car that holds their prices for more than 20/20 (20 minutes or 20 miles) but their sure expert at getting the last dime on the table. Idiots.

What? $50,000 when the base models are in the thirties? What the hell?

I agree that these cars are a huge leap for Detroit, but not THAT huge a leap.

These are for the affluent to drive around and brag that they're doing their part for the environment. What a bunch of crap.

Are you guys on crack or what? This thing called being "GREEN"?!

How is that Ford can sell thier GREEN MACHINE for less than 30K?
I have been a Chey man forever but Ford's better price, better mileage and style for that matter make's the 50+K Chevy look like a GREEN MONSTER. way out of range.
Mister E.

Look at one today, heard te price...after I got up off the parking lot I thought I'll keep my 2000 Silverado because $50,000 would buy a lot of gas.
