Recall Alert: 2008 Dodge Avenger, Chrysler Sebring

Chryslersebringvert270

Chrysler will recall 72,333 Chrysler Sebring convertibles and Dodge Avenger sedans from the 2008 model year because of faulty door latches. The front doors of the two models can become stuck in the unlock position, leading to the doors opening in situations when they shouldn’t, namely, crashes. Dealers will install additional parts to ensure that even if the primary latch does fail, the doors will not open.

In a separate recall, the company is recalling 1,158 2008 Dodge Avenger all-wheel-drive models for faulty fuel tank straps. The straps could separate from the body of the car, leading to the tank potentially loosening.

Owners can call 800-853-1403 for more information.

Wow this is late. I rememeber being told about this over a month ago.

There isn't a 2007 Sebring convertible or a 2007 Avenger.

Woohoo. Just like my 1973 Dodge Dart passenger door. Good to see some things don't change. Sebring so ugly, it makes you miss LeBaron.

actually there is such a thing as a 2007 sebring or avenger. the news refers to model years built between those years. example, if you buy a 2008 sebring right now, it would be model year 2007 because its built in 2007...and we have not even started the year 2008. chrysler introduced the convertible this year as a 2008 model, but it's built in year 2007

You are blending calendar and model years. The model year is whatever the automaker designates the car as, and Chrysler has not designated any Sebring convertibles or Avengers as 2007s. And if they were, in fact, referring to calendar year production in the post, then there wouldn't be any 2008s.

Hey guys it is model year. We changed it appropriately. Thanks IFCAR

Wow thats pathetic, fuel tanks could possibly fall off. Who is in charge of quality control?

Fuel tank fall off?
Isn't it attached to some pipes of some sorts?

Fire On Rear Denting.... my bad... That was the Pinto wasn't it? Aren't things like this tested out before the product goes to market? I know everything can't be caught before being released to the public but, these are pretty big issues to "slip through" quality control aren't they?

Intercommunity Action, Inc., a non profit organization in Philadelphia, are holding their annual car raffle. The grand prize is a JEEP PATRIOT or a CHRYSLER SEBRING!

Chances are just $20 and and there are only 1500 tickets available (the odds are good!). IF all the tickets do NOT sell, the winner will get 50% of all proceeds raised...last year....a local woman won $6k! Drawing is Jan 2, 08.

You can purchase tickets on-line at www.intercommunityaction.org
