Pontiac Launches G8 Microsite

Pontiacg8black_2

Pontiac does two things right with its new microsite for the upcoming G8 sedan: First, the G8 on the microsite is black. All big, muscular cars, sedan or otherwise, better look good in black. Second, the site lets you build your own G8. No, there are no prices attached, but you can find out what colors — like the oddly purple Stealth Blue Metallic — and option packages will be available.

There are also full specs and a photo gallery but, alas, only a few more images of the G8. We’ll keep an eye out for more information from GM on the new G8 when it gets closer to its on-sale date early in 2008.

You know, I have yet to see pictures of the G8s interior. On the microsite there are none.

Does it even have an interior yet?

Just found the Holden Commodore Website, and I have to say the Commodore looks a lot better than the G8. Look at the G8's front profile: the nose looks dinky but the cockpit looks massive, and the headlights are ghastly.

But the Commodore has things much better proportioned, and has the sporty look you need in an enthusiast sedan. I wish GM would just import some of their stuff entirely really.

You could click on "More G8 News" where we have photos from the show car which is pretty close to the real thing we saw in May.

See the red G8 in person I thought it looked great.

Why do they have to advertise it as "First Ever"? A rebadged Holden is first ever for Pontiac?

J:

Why did Toyota have a 50th anniversary edition Camry HYBRID to celebrate its 50th anniversary in America. After all, Toyota hasn't been producing hybrid Camries for 50th years, right?

It is for the same reasons that Pontiac says the "first ever" - it's for marketing. Although in my mind, Pontiac's marketing is less deceptive.

Pontiac with a "first ever" anything is deceptive by itself. And I did not know there were "degrees" of deceptive in this case, either the company tells the truth or its a lie. How much of it is a lie is a question, but as you can tell, I just like to argue :)

The G8 seems pretty cool.

To Comm: your argument is moot. There is no problem with celebrating 50 years in America by selling a special version of a car. You're just looking to start something.

There is no navigation system option on the "build a G8" part. In the release pictures there was a navigation system in the interior shots

Nevermind, took a second look and it has a 6.5 inch LCD screen, but no navigation system on it.

11pm, site's crashed (ahem)

Really wanted to see that purple you mentioned Dave T., I'm sick of grey, gray and silver.
