Ford Teases New Mustang Bullitt
If you didn’t think there were enough Mustang variants on the market — Shelby GT, Shelby GT500, Shelby GT500 KR, California Special — there’s one more coming to the party. Ford will debut the Bullitt Mustang at the L.A. Auto Show on Nov. 13. There’s no word on performance upgrades, but we expect a modest bump in power. We also dig the nice green color reminiscent of the classic from the movie and it looks like the grille might get some work too. The Bullitt will go on sale in early 2008.

Honda is coming out with two new hybrid vehicles and Ford releases a green Mustang. Pretty much sums up the auto world.

"Pretty much sums up the auto world."
I'm not sure if you're suggesting that's a good thing or a bad thing???

Be fair, Ford has issued special mustangs for the past two generations quite successfully. This should be the last hoorah until the new Mustang comes out for 2009.
But yes, we'd like to see more innovation from Ford. Did you see the post about an American version of the Verve Concept coming to the Detroit show?

And i bet you more people will buy the mustang then a honda hybrid.
*cough* Insight.

Actually the "Bullit" is really little more than a color and trim package,,,
a
very
SWEET
trim package.
The last Bullit with the Gunmetal retro wheels? Probably the best appearance package for the Fox body in 20 years.
Positively sinister.
Don't know if it will work a 2nd time though.

Atleast some car companies out there are willing to take a risk for something that will actually help us reduce our exploitation of the world's natural resources. It's very easy to say that more mustangs will be sold than a Honda Hybrid, but just wait. Toyota's Prius sells more than the mustang and I am sure Hondas hybrids coming out will do extremely well as honda's first attempt at a hybrid was bold and extremely environmentally friendly, albeit a little quirky and not meant for the mass public but for enhancing the company's green image. Not the best comparison if you ask me Anon. Last time I checked Honda was actually profitable.

I look forward to driving this Mustang...at Hertz. That's the Ford motto, "Making Rental Cars is Job #1"

The ford Mustang is one of the best selling cars of all time. Your saying the prius outsold it? And what galaxy do you live in?
Ford has the escape. We can't all drive hybrids. Mustang is ment to be a fun car not a hybrid.
If you looked above you Tim D. compared Ford and Honda. Hence the reason for comparison.
Also Dan, Hertz and Avis only have the v6 mustang and the Hertz shelby. It's good that they have the shelby because not everyone can afford to buy one.
Of course Enterprise also rents out Camrys and accords. I travel for my company and Not once have I seen a Avenger Rental car.

Hertz has the a special version. not the shebly. Who cares how many priuses sell. the simple fact is that outside of the proud to be so smug prius drivers, no one else buys a hybrid. Its not toyota fighting the war against destruction of the environment, its toyota hitting the market first with one. The Prius is a Jeep Wrangler. a niche market vehicle. The real hybrids for the comon man will be with the Malibu and Aura mild hybrids. They are an affordable upgrade and boast some nice increases in MPG. that's what people really want.
smug

Funny The Wrangler gets people to the place that the prius owners are trying to save.
Maybe someday the Prius owners will realize that just were they live might be polluted and smog filled. There are still many parts of this country that arn't like that and will stay like that without having the entire country drive their craptastic car.

??? Am I sleep intertubing? Strange, that's not something I would say.
To Anon-
I'll admit, when I heard the claim that the Prius (even though I know it's selling quite well) is outselling the Mustang, I doubted it and went searching for evidence.
The most recent numbers I could find on Mustang sales were 10,684 in July 2007. The Prius' were 16,062 in July 2007. So while the Mustang has sold more vehicles in its history, the Prius actually is selling more vehicles today. Prius sales were roughly half that in January so clearly it's a quickly growing market. Too bad you can't buy stock in Prius' instead of the overall company! :)

Ford releases a Green Mustang that will sell like hotcakes cuz it can. Thats great marketing. Thats also why it is one of the consistently best selling brands of cars for nearly 40 years. Top that Toyota.
Honestly, discussions about the environemnteal benefits of electric/hybrid vehicles are moot. Electric vehicles do not have the marketabliity neded to significantly impact the enviroment; simply put, not enough people will drive them. Hybrids are city cars driven by left wing tree huggers (I am one). The manufactureres need to address the red states, and find a clean vehicle that will tow the boat, horse trailer or go hunting. That same technologiy will convert muscle car freaks (like me). Electric car technoly is great green publicity and nothing more.
America: spend more money on Hydrogen!!! Thats where the HP is at!
