Disney to Build Cars Land Based on Movie
Those of us who don’t follow the Disney empire that closely might not have heard of the company’s California Adventure theme park. If you’re one of those people, you probably didn’t hear about its grand opening six years ago, right next door to Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. Obviously, there are a lot of us out there because Adventure Land isn’t doing that well and Disney has decided to pump $1.1 billion into overhauling the park. One way it’s looking to bring in more people: Building Cars Land, based on the popular animated film “Cars.”
There’s no word on what type of rides or attractions Cars Land will have, but you sure would think a movie about cars would be easy to morph into a bunch of amusement park rides.
Disney to Spend $1.1 Billion to Overhaul California Adventure (LA Times)

I'm afraid it might be like striking while the iron is cooling. Disney movies are more timeless than most, but by the time they've updated this park there will be less relation to the movie. Paramount's Kings Dominion in Petersburg, VA has a ride called "The Hurler" and it was of course tied to "Wayne's World." There were Waynes World themed components everywhere along the ride. There was even a Stan Mikita's (restaurant from the movie) out front. As time went by and fewer and fewer people caught the references they eventually did away with all of those pieces. Now The Hurler stands alone. Wow...this was kinda a worthless rant...sorry. It'll probably do well for about 10 years until nobody remembers the movie anymore...unless the rides just really kick ace.

The Hurler!! I'm from Virginia- lived here all of my life. I remember when that ride came out. Me and my wife went to Kings Dominion a couple of months ago and man was that kind of depressing seeing that ride without all of the extra Wayne's World stuff attached to it. Oh well.
