Car Stereo Run Amok

We often see hear a car drive by and wonder how the person at the wheel can hear anything with the bass and/or guitars blaring at illegal limits; many cities have ordinances against such sound systems. When we see a video like the one above, we really have to wonder.

It seems a Ford Freestyle owner has installed a 17,000-watt sound system into his crossover. Usually the rear compartment can handle five to six humans and their needed gear. Instead, this vehicle can handle no one but the driver and front passenger. The car shakes so violently during the video that the interior panels and roof are moving in a way that makes us think the car is not long for this world.

We’re posting this on the weekend so as not to waste your valuable time at work with it, and in a slight nod to SEMA starting next week.

New standard for testing interior quality!

Quick put that system in a Toyota Highlander and the M-Class for a comparison test!

NVH indeed!

A new family moved into the neighborhood and with them came a 17 year old who thought his job was to blast his car stero at 9 at night. One can of spray foam insulation unloaded into the tail pipe along with a typed note placed under the windshield wiper fixed the problem...or so I was told;-)

^^ So I am guessing that 17 year old had a Civic?

What I find amazing is that the kid put it into a Ford Freestyle - sort of a family truckster. I bet he looks cool riding down the street in his bumpin' Freestyle - insert SARCASM here -

This kid deserves to be deaf.

How is this any different than folks who ride annoyingly loud Harleys and dual exhaust pickups? My neighbors continuously vibrate my home with those hideous inventions. The car audio guys at least, don't shake my neighborhood every day going to work, coming home and revving during the weekend. And, idling to warm up.

17,000 watt is a bit much you can do just fine with about 3,000
