Honda Prices All-New 2008 Accord

Honda’s redesigned 2008 Accord sedan and coupe now have a price, and both go on sale soon, Sept. 12 and 20, respectively. Honda says the average price is up $600 across the line compared to the 2007s, while adding $1,400 in standard equipment. Those numbers seem about right, as the base LX with manual transmission starts at $20,360, not including destination. The top of the line EX-L coupe with a V-6 engine caps the range at $30,510.

Mike Hanley recently reviewed the all-new Accord and came away impressed by the new designs. You can read his review here. A full list of prices for the 2008 Accord range is below.

The pricing is interesting, what does the EX-L has to justify its price for just $100 short from a EX V6(Both Sedans)?

L stands for leather in Honda trims but I'm not sure what else that includes. Could be power seats etc.

I believe EX-L on the Accord gets you heated leather, auto climate control, and possibly other small goodies.

I find it very interesting that they're offering a remote engine start (with two-way communication) as a dealer-installed accessory on all models. This seems contrary to the Honda tradition of making a feature available on almost every Acura model before making it widely available on Honda models (e.g., auto climate control, side airbags, Bluetooth, xenon headlghts).

I still think the difference between LX and EX four-cylinder engines is a throwback to the 1994-97 model--I thought they had moved beyond that.

OK the EX-L 4 cylinder doesn't have:
Multi-Reflector Halogen Headlights with Auto-off Hood Struts
Fog Lights

Which the EX V6 does have.

However it does come with leather heated seats, automatic dimming mirror and dual zone climate control which the EX V-6 does not have.

J

Auto Dimming mirror is the one inside the cabin? Or the ones on the sides? Or even better, all of them?

The one inside cabin is pretty useless, since it is way too small, that I need to put on an extender anyway.
BTW, which ones have heated outside mirror? It is a crucial thing for us living in the snow belt.
Plus, the EX-L should be able to put on the fog lights as options, which is another 500 to 600 bucks.

When will Honda finally let the V6 ones have optional HID? They have it in Japan long ago, but never in the States with a H emblem other than the S2000.

J,

The inside rearview mirror is the one that can have automatic dimming. Four-cylinder and V-6 EX and EX-L trims of both the sedan and coupe have heated side mirrors.

Where is Honda getting styling cues? Why does this "new" Accord look so much like the old Saturn L Series?

LM

The Accord has never had much in the way of inspired style. I don't know what it is. At least the Civic looks complete.

Perhaps this is why it's not going to overtake the Camry in sedan-dominance. At least the Camry looks like the same car front to back.

J

The Camry looks like the same car front to back?

Does that mean over the generations? Or does that mean just the current generations' "front" and "back"?

nady

The new Accord is styled very similar to the new Chrysler Sebring sedans and the current Camry always reminds me of that comedian singer Jimmy Durante with his huge nose. Was some Toyota designer just watching old Durante TV shows for inspiration ?
