Dodge to Auction Off First Challengers

Dodgechallengerconcept

Dodge is taking a page out of Ford’s playbook, auctioning off the first three production examples of its all-new 2008 Challenger muscle car. The first one will be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson’s annual event in Scottsdale, Ariz., between Jan. 12 and 20. This is a strange move because the production version of the car isn’t supposed to be revealed to the public until the Chicago Auto Show on Feb. 6.

Proceeds from all three cars will go to various charities. All the Challengers will be of the high-powered SRT8 variety, featuring a 6.1-liter Hemi V-8, Hemi Orange paint and hood stripes.

Ford auctioned off the first Shelby GT500 at Barrett-Jackson in 2006, and it raked in a whopping $600,000 for charity.

Maybe they are auctioning off the concept version of it or Early made production version.

Either way those are going to be worth serious cash down the road.

To be clear they are auctioning off real production versions. The first three SRT8 versions to roll of the line. What I was trying to say is they'll be trumping the Chicago Auto Show's big reveal of the model if it shows up in Arizona a few weeks before.

They should auction off the first thousand. That's basically what the greedy dealers do depending on the popularity of them. Remember the Buick GNX?
The factory can donate the delta profit to a charity and the buyer gets the right off.

I can't get over how original these things look! It's like they brought out the original tooling. Of course they were design lines that are hard to beat.

I think this will be one Dodge that even the reviewers can't complain about the interiors.
