Cars We're Looking Forward To

Mostwanted2008

We had a little email brainstorm among the reviewers and editors at Cars.com yesterday regarding which five new models we personally can’t wait to drive. One of the best perks of our jobs undoubtedly is testing the latest and greatest cars on the road, and we don’t deny that. But what new cars really get us gassed? Check out the list, and feel free to add the vehicles you want us to write about.

you want to test drive the new wrx?? i think it is a step down from the previous wrx in terms of looks and suspension. no big changes to the engine.... with the skyline gt-r and all new evo X coming out (admittedly months away), i was surprised those cars didn't make the lists

American automakers take notice: none of those cars are SUVs. None of them are Fords (unless we start counting Mazda for once).

There's really nothing new in SUVs for 2008 unless you count the Chevy Traverse (clone of other GM products)... but that will probably be a 2009 model. The European Ford Kuga would be nice to see.

i was close to saying the Infiniti EX35 but the Audi A5 won out.

Just bring on the 1 series!!!! I cant wait!!! A small RWD car with a great engine. I'm 19 and i know everyone in my generation wants a BMW.. so to have one thats smaller, more affordable, and fun to drive will be awesome. It should sell well ... but i fear high insurance cost.. which makes me want to run!!!!

the 1-series should be pretty cool

the Tiagun is a bit of a ways off, but its supposed to be here some time in 2008. the Q5 should be pretty cool too.

can't wait for the RS6

Is anyone else confused as to why the Chevy Malibu was mentioned twice let alone at all?

You really can't wait to drive a Saturn Aura clone?

I've already seen one S5 with a normal plate when I was on my way leaving from school last week. How come you guys didn't get your hands on one yet?

GM does no more cloning than anyone else 'HA' and
'ziggy'. The Altima Coupe and that new Infinity (G I think? - can't keep them straight) and the Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus GX470 are the same. All, virtually every Acura is a Honda in disguise. GM actually did a nice job on the Lambda's and I don't see any reason why the Traverse (although I think its unnecessary) will be re-badge.

Commodore,

Please tell me those are not what you really think.

First of all, Infiniti is not Infinity, and the Altima Coupe has nothing to do with the G35 Coupe except the engine is in the same VQ family. Moreover, one is a FWD, the other is a RWD.

Second, Land Cruiser and GX470? Did you mean LX470? It is like saying an Suburban and a Yukon Denali. (Not the XL one though)

Third, EVERY Acura is a Honda in disguise? I guess it is true if you are looking at JDM and/or Canada.
Acura Integra(RSX) is similar to JDM Honda Integra.
Acura Legend(RL) is similar to JDM Honda Legend.
Acura TSX is similar to JDM Honda Accord.
Acura CSX is similar to JDM Honda Civic.
Acura NSX is similar to JDM Honda NSX-T

But I have to agree that re-badge is not cloning. It is a bit different.

IF u wanna drive a G8 now just fly to an Arabian country where it's the "Chevy Lumina(SS with V8). LOL Been in Germany & get tired of seeing "Astras" & "Smart" cars. BMW 1 looks nice in coupe form, we just have the hatch for now. I wanna have a CTS over here!! Maybe a diesel version for the good mileage! Right now we just have the Caddy BLS(where'd they get that name?)

I would think you guys would want to test drive one of the new Honda Diesels coming out in 2009. If their fuel mileage is what I have heard they will be, they will turn the automotive industry direction in a new and different direction. My only concern is that they still have great acceleration.

Rich

Doesn't diesel has more torque when comparing to similarly displaced gasoline engines? So wouldn't the acceleration in diesel be better if not the same?
