Volvo Tells You When You Need a Break

We’ve tested the latest Volvo safety innovations, like the company’s collision warning and blind-spot detection systems, but the company has a new one on the way for the S80, XC70 and V70 models later this year: Driver Alert Control. The system will monitor driving behavior and suggest when the driver should take a break to either rest or refuel on caffeinated beverages.

My 2004 Audi will blink the trip timer after 2 hours of driving as an alert. I don't know when Audi started that feature.

Probably a subliminal message Volvo put in to get people to buy more from IKEA? All I know is that after 2-3 hours driving or riding in a vehicle, no matter how posh or basic, I would still need to get out to stretch.

This reminds me of the Nintendo Wii. It suggest you take a break after you play for a while. Just as I do with the Wii, I would probably just ignore it and keep on driving.

I have a 2001 A4 indicates when you've been driving for 2 hours. It's only news when Volvo does it. They're the safety oriented car manufacturer.

I have a 2006 Pontiac GTO that also tells you to stop and rest after 200 miles of nonstop driving.
