Lance Briggs' $150,000 Mechanic Bill

Lancebriggslambo

There’s nothing worse than getting in a car accident. For most of us, that means dealing with the police and the insurance company, replacing a bumper or — worst case scenario — writing off the whole car and getting a new one. Football player Lance Briggs is in a whole other league, and we’re not talking about the NFL.

Briggs crashed his $350,000 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster on the side of a highway late Sunday night and set off a firestorm about his actions. We care less about his abandoning the scene of the accident — which is illegal folks, don’t do it — than we do about the car itself. You see, not only is this a Lamborghini, it’s the most powerful Lamborghini. And it’s a convertible, meaning it costs even more money than the coupe. Plus, those little letters and numbers you see in the name mean this is a special edition of the Murcielago Roadster that produces 640 hp, not the 500-plus some news outlets are reporting. The V-12 engine allows the car to hit 62 mph in 3.4 seconds, which is faster than almost anything else you can buy.

Sounds great, doesn’t it? Not anymore. The shop where the car was towed estimated damages at $150,000, stating, “The body panels are cracked all around, the radiator popped out and there’s heavy, heavy suspension damage.” The source also correctly pointed out that the Lambo is handmade and will need to be rebuilt by hand.

theres a heartbreaker. be a better idea to buy a new one, sure more expensive, but alot quicker.

What happens if you skid off the road and into a ditch at 3am in the rain and catch a ride home from a friend?

Is that still leaving the scene of an accident?

Well it's not quite totaled (80% of book value)

But damn close.

Heh, time to make a track car out of it.

wonder how long it took him to wreck it? so sad, poor car!

Is this already on the wrecked exotics website? If not, it will be soon. Maybe instead of the whole leaving the scene and claiming it was stolen bit, he should have said a German named Dieter was really the one driving.

For $150K worth of damage, I think the state police should confiscate it and make it a police car. This would be better than trying to catch a Porsche or motorcycle with a Crown Vic. What was he doing out so late anyway? I know the team has a curfew....

I'm sure this is chump change to him. There's more damage to his reputation than anything. Sad to see a hand built car injured though.
