The All-New 2008 Honda Accord Coupe

2008hondaaccordcoupe

  • Competes with: Toyota Camry Solara, Nissan Altima coupe, Pontiac G6 coupe
  • Looks like: Acura, Infiniti and BMW got together and made a Honda
  • Drivetrain: 268-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 with five-speed automatic or six-speed manual; 190-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 177-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder with five-speed automatic or five-speed manual; front-wheel drive
  • Hits dealerships: Mid-September 2007

Like the new Accord sedan, the 2008 Honda Accord coupe has been radically redesigned. The new two-door features the same engine choices, with one exception: The V-6 comes equipped with a six-speed manual as an option. Surprisingly, the manual transmission gets worse gas mileage than the automatic transmission.

We’re most impressed with the interior of the new Accord, as the exterior styling, especially in coupe form, is more of a love-hate affair. There’s something off-putting about how the hood line doesn’t meet up with the grille. And that grille … that’s something only the car’s designers could love.

We’ll have a full review of the new Accord up later today, but for now, check out more photos below.

What's with this VS the Altima Coupe? Do they both come out from the same designer or designing team? They look very similar to each other...if you just round out the Accord coupe a bit, or square box the Altima coupe a bit...

Honeycomb grille.
Sideway look.
Awkward "back"

Let the battle begin: AC VS AC (Alitima Coupe VS Accord Coupe).

Better than the sedan, but I am still not feeling it. I like the 2007 models better.

Hey! It's an armored Tiburon... Ick.

It Looks Like The IS From Lexus.

I'm thinking the high hood/grill has to do with the anti-pedestrian collision standards in Europe. I don't THINK they're on the books in the US yet, but maybe Honda thought they'd be proactive and design for them anyway.

think it might look better without lines on side..?

Like always, I am holding off final judgment until I see one on the road. But, for right now, in these pics, I don't care for it--especially the profile. The back looks too big for it.

I don't know if it is just the angle of the photo or not, but the windsheild looks like it should at more of an angle.

The concept pics looked great, but the final product less so. Hopefully, seeing it in the "flesh" will change my mind.

Wow! The new Honda Accord is beautiful! I'm almost tempted to buy it instead of the 08 BMW 650i I had intended to buy.

This car looks great in dark grey or black. I took the time to photoshop it into dark grey with gun metal rims, and it it bloody sweet. Altima is a beautiful car aswell, but the interior isn't something to drool over. Though one cool feature about the Altima is the Intelligent Key and Push Button start, which is really slick!!

I'm gonna have to see the Accord face to face to decide on which one I'm gonna buy.

I just bought the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe loaded with the 268 h.p. engine and all the goodies. I've had a number of people stop me to ask about the car. All, "wow's" from those who saw it. Beautiful in the Night Hawk Black and black leather interior. Was going to buy a 2008 B.M.W. 3 series but it doesn't even compete and the Honda Coupe is about $10,000.00 more. Mine listed for $28,995.00. Find a Motor Trend report or go to Honda on-line...too many options to list here but Honda racing was involved in the design and engine! Rob

p.s. Meant that the Accord Coupe lists for $10,000.00 less then the B.M.W. 3 series. Rob
