Ch-Ch-Changes: 2008 Chevy Corvette Gets More Power

2008chevycorvette2

The Corvette is still the ultimate American sports car. When the current generation debuted, nearly everyone was completely satisfied with its 400 hp, and those few who wanted more were satiated with a high-performance Z06 that had 505 hp. For 2008, the Corvette coupe and convertible get a power boost from a new V-8 engine. Power is now rated at 430 hp, and with an optional exhaust system borrowed from the Z06, buyers can get 436 total hp.

The company also says there are steering and suspension upgrades that produce an even better driving feel than in the 2007. They also say there are significant interior and exterior “enhancements,” but besides new wheels we can’t really see much difference in the photos you can find in the gallery below. The car goes on sale later this year, and we expect prices to stay close to the 2007’s $44,250 for the coupe and $52,590 for the convertible.

YUM!

They have done a very good job with 2008 model. Suspension should be very big improvement as far as I hear. The only thing is that GM pushed more weight to the front wheels an it is now closer to f/r - 53/47. If the car proves to be significantly improved (I have not tested it yet) I am considering it over new Porsche Cayman S or slightly used 911 next year.

I wondered how much does that optional exhaust system costs for 6 more hp (a 1.39% increase).

The interior is still not much to look at. The biggest change I would like to see is for GM to remove the Chevrolet name so its just a Corvette brand.

so jealous of u ppl who can afford cars i only dream of ...
