Obama Goes Hybrid

Escapehybrid0604

We learned a long time ago not to talk politics on an automotive blog, but that doesn’t mean we can’t point things out. Presidential candidate Barack Obama was recently blasted for lecturing automakers about poor-mileage cars when he owned a Hemi-powered Chrysler 300C. We thought the criticism was unfair since he had a one car household, but we digress.

Now word from Obama’s camp is that the senator from Illinois has purchased a Ford Escape Hybrid. A story in the Detroit Free Press notes this happened before Bill Ford Jr. attacked Obama about his stance. We wonder if he regrets that given Obama is now a customer.

Of course, arguing about what kind of car any candidate is driving — John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney and others also drive hybrids — seems a tad silly as they all travel in a large caravan of cars, SUVs, tour buses and planes while on the campaign trail.

Amen.

Darn it Dave, you've walked the line so well that you've not started a political flamewar, but there really is no good way to comment without doing so! Kudos. :)

The other Dan

A Ford?!
Guess I'll have to re-think my voting for this fellow... ;0)

Well David is right that what ever the politicians drive, they all use SUVs, tour buses and planes while in their campaign. But this Hybrid really is one of a kind with all of the gadgets installed you can never get enough of this car.

Politicians will do anything to get people to vote for them, and I really do not think they will bulletproof one. http://hybridnation.ws/

Looks like he traded in his gas guzzler just in time, now he can run for president as someone with a track record of supporting the environment, fortuntely for him most people have short memories. Staff, GreenCarsNow.com
