New 2008 Chrysler Minivans Cost Less Than '07s

Chryslerdodgeminivans

The redesigned 2008 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Caravan minivans will go on sale this fall with more standard features than the outgoing 2007s, as well as a lower sticker price. Chrysler announced prices this morning, and the base Town & Country LX will start $3,585 less than last year’s, at $22,460 not including a $730 destination charge. That’s the biggest dip in prices across the two lines, but all five models cost less. The base Caravan SE will start at $21,740, $1,950 less than the 2007.

All models have been extensively redesigned and add new safety features like electronic stability control and a tire pressure monitoring system. The interior and exterior are completely redesigned, and both minivans are longer than before.

Chrysler should actually price these using the 80's & early 90's pricing, now that they look so similar to each other.

Amuro,

I agree.... Looks like they went back to the old school in hopes of reviving a dead horse. There is however a market for minivans. Bang for the buck seems to be the target here.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the squared off styling either, but the interior seems like it's going to be great for families. I do think the Chrysler front end looks less dated than the Dodge. It's a shame really; they should do more to differentiate these two. I wonder what the VW will look like when it comes out...

I would have liked to see a high mileage option with a revision to the existing 4-cylinder engine. I currently have a 2001 4-cylinder caravan and will only purchase a van with better gas mileage. Brand is no worry. High gas mileage is the largest factor!

cody

Yeah, but since these new vans are only the extended versions, I doubt even a revised gasoline 4-cylinder could move it very quickly.

I emailed Chrysler and asked if they were planning a diesel version as a fuel efficient option. I was told there are no current plans for a diesel but it could be possible in the future if the market demands it.

Allan Honeyman

Okay. I demand it. I own a '05 Caravan and will only buy a diesel version. I am dieselizing everything I own and if I have to buy the VW branded version to get the diesel...well, so be it.

Come on Chrysler, give us what you give the rest of the world.
