Insurance Companies Demand Car Immobilizers

Winnipegjoyride

We always thought Canadians were friendly, good-hearted people, but trouble is brewing in Winnipeg.

Manitoba Public Insurance, a government-run insurance company for residents of that province, is demanding that motorists who drive any of the roughly 120 most-popular cars in the province get an immobilizer — a device that keeps thieves from driving off with your car — or risk losing their car insurance. About 47,000 drivers have failed to comply, the Winnipeg Sun says, but on the plus side, the insurance company will pay the $15 million or so to add the devices. It’s free for drivers of the most-popular cars.

The company says it’s been warning drivers about this for some time, and now it’s decided to drop the hammer. Of course, there are those who criticize the plan, including one Sun writer who claims that many drivers believe the devices are causing problems for their cars’ electrical systems. There’s a shock. Check out the Sun’s extensive coverage below. It may be their equivalent of the Paris Hilton jailing.

Not Happy

I better not get stranded at ANYTIME by this immobilizer screwing up. If it does, I'm having Brian Smiley's throat slashed!

Thanks for the providing good information.I will also suggest to consider buying an auto insurance for your car as it has become inevitable to buy auto insurance these days. I found a good place that helped me find an incredible rate http://www.carinsuranceassistant.com/index.php?id=New+Car

they give you the best rates from lots of local providers

This will surely reduce the car theft and also it will benefit the government because they do not want to often pay the money as a claim.

Car Insurance

As long as they're paying for the device I don't have problem with it, unless installing is a month’s rent. Or why not avoid the car altogether?

Some of the car insurance come up with a great idea for people who insure and also its truly very helpful too. For car insurance premium you need to pay regular premiums at time even though you don’t drive or drive very frequently so in that case the pay as you drive car insurance, single day car insurance, monthly car insurance, temporary car insurance and many other such schemes and policies where you can also save money and also pay only when you drive. And installing a tracking box or in-car tracker really helps a lot for you where it not only records the distance traveled or distance covered by car but also helps you find the your stolen car. So before you install or join the insurance you just need to check all the details of the insurance company and the benefits covered by them and choose the suitable insurance for your car. http://onedaycarinsure.co.uk/
