Toyota Prices All-New 2008 Highlander

2008highlander0621

Toyota’s new Highlander is significantly redesigned — and presumably improved — over the outgoing model. It has more room, a bigger engine and gets the same gas mileage. It also enters a now ultra-competitive segment in the auto industry: three-row crossovers. That competition is probably one reason Toyota is keeping the new Highlander’s price extremely similar to the outgoing model’s.

The Highlander Base 4x2 starts at $27,300 — $510 more than the 2007 — while the top-of-the-line Highlander Limited 4x2 starts considerably higher than the 2007, at $32,700, a bump of $1,890. Of course, the new models carry more standard safety and other features. The new gasoline Highlander goes on sale in July, with the hybrid model following in September. Pricing for the hybrid will be released closer to its on-sale date. For a full price breakdown of the gasoline version, keep reading.

If I was Subaru, I would be calling the lawyers to get a lawsuit together. Almost identical to the Forester except bigger. Like the new Lexus LX, its hideous and I know Toyo could have done better than this.

I think this image is slightly forester esque. When you see this in person it looks nothing like the Subie.

I can't believe I'm doing this ( not a big toyota fan), but I have to say that I think the styling is very clean and mascluline. I like that the awkward center console is gone. Are there any pics of the rear? I didnt see any.

Highlander is on track outsell the Lambda triplets combined this year. Sienna, too.

Highlander has had a very small 3rd row for a few years now, but previously had no side airbag coverage. The stowable miniature 2nd row center seat is similar to the Honda Odyssey's. Works well if you have a couple of child car seats, yet want 3rd row access, but once the kids grow out of them get the full 2nd row.

Wow, I didn't notice the Forester resemblance until you brought it up. Maybe that's why the Tribeca looks the way it does...the bigger Forester design was already taken.

I hope they have improved the legroom in the back seat. I have to be the "guest" in one ride and it was really small for an average guy.

Compared to the previous years model, the 2008 Highlander is bigger, taller, quieter, more standard safety features (7 airbags/ABS/traction), and has larger engine that gets the same MPG as last year. Previous Highlander was rated the QUIETEST SUV by many reviewers, "best in class" by leading consumer mag - this year's is even quieter!

My wife & I will be retiring soon; this looks to be the perfect safe vacation cruiser. The web reports by actual buyers has been virtually unanimous praise. Reports of 22MPG Avg & 25MPG Hwy. I suspect the "complaints" previously posted come from salesmen & marketeers from the competing SUV brands, as the Highlander looks to really hurt the competion and be crowned the class leader.

This really looks to be our next car!
