Ford Breaks Out 0% Financing on All Models

07fordsporttrac

Independence Day is usually a big time for car sales, but so far this summer nothing like the huge discounts of summers past had been announced. It’s not huge, but Ford will be offering 0% financing for 36 months on every 2007 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury model through July 9. Most SUVs and trucks will get an additional $2,007 cash rebate on top of the financing. The cash back excludes the Ford Edge, Mercury MKX, Ford Freestyle and Ford E-Series vans.

You’ll start seeing ads for the sale soon on TV. Let us know if you’re a car shopper who routinely waits for sales like this before pulling the trigger on a planned car purchase.

I've been waiting for something like this, but I'll wait a little longer for them to extend the 0% to 60 months or longer. Which I'm guessing will happen around Labor Day.

So, we're back to 0% financing again, huh?

Honestly, I'd think that putting a flat rebate would be a better advertisement. $1000 off is easier to quickly grasp than how much, over 3 years, on a $30,000 loan will 0% save you. It's just clearer.

Dan, I would hope that you are wrong. What I mean is, that I hope that the majority of consumers would understand that even at a low interest rate like 3%, you will rack up much more than $1,000 in interest over 5 or so years.

Dan

Jenki-
I agree, I hope they would too. I just know that in advertising, they try to shoot for a quick message, with an emotional reaction, that doesn't require any thought. Perhaps they just subscribe to the Mencken school of thought. :)

Mike

It was a better deal last year. 0% at 72 months.
