I'm looking forward to the release of the Caliber SRT-4, that should liven up the "fast on the cheap" articles a bit.

I'm curious why the 2007 subaru impreza WRX TR wasn't included. 2008 is indeed a new design, but 2007 WRX TR can match (or even exceed) the performance numbers of these cars for a very close price.

ken, the WRX is probably considered a different class because of the AWD. Might even be more heavy.

I don't know what's so special about the TR package though, seems to be an option delete package. (Isn't the stereo not included in that?)

But I will agree for the same price as these cars you can get a well equipped AWD WRX in it's last (and best looking) year on the current platform.

Too bad I had to be the one to buy a 1st year frog eyed wagon. :(
