I'm waiting for the new Chevrolet Malibu...My 2002 LS has 193,000 flawless miles, I'm very impressed with this vehicle and can't wait for the next one!

No Hondas and almost no Toyotas in the list?
Thor,
The 2008 model year has been a quiet one so far for Honda (no introductions or significant redesigns) and Toyota (redesigned Highlander), but either one of them might debut something this summer. If they do, it'll be included in this list.
saturn astra! heck yea that looks like a fun car to drive!
Hmm..new Accord isn't news? That is definitely coming out this Fall. Maybe sooner.
Toyota has the new Highlander, and of course the new Corolla/Matrix twins and of course the Scions. Plenty of new Toyota's for 2008.
yeah toyota has product coming out but nodody cares about those cars, i mean, it doesn't say "holy crap ___ model is coming!!' its "oh, great, another toyota.."
same for honda
Once again everyone hating on Honda and Toyota for actually running a profitable company that sell cars people want. When was the last time an American car company was profitable for more than a quarter?
Guys(Staffs), where the heck is the new Accord?
LM and J: I contacted Honda today and they aren't releasing anything officially yet on the new Accord -- beyond the Coupe Concept from the auto shows -- and that's why we didn't have it.
Stay tuned, though, because they say they will have more information later in the summer when it gets closer for the Accord to go on sale.
Thanks for checking out our work.
Bill
Bill,
Thanks for checking it for us.
Because I am dying to know how Honda fights back the Camry.
Also conspicuously absent are any Hyundai models. The concept Genesis (or whatever the final name will be) will be a 2008 model, will it not? Also the Elantra hatch/GT should be back as an '08 model as well, I believe. Nothing official enough yet to include these, eh?
505Accent: As for the Genesis, since it's still a concept, you are right: There's nothing official enough to include it. It will be an interesting new vehicle on the market, and closely watched since it’s a luxury entry.
As for the Elantra wagon/hatch variants, I’m very excited for them to come back because I love that type of car – no matter who makes it. As for its inclusion in the MYP, that’s kind of a case-by-case deal and we generally – generally – don’t include bodystyle variants. The Elantra was covered in the 2007 Model Year Preview, but we wouldn’t put in the hatchback/wagon this year because it’s a new bodystyle of a car that’s out there. But, once all the bodystyles are official, and Hyundai releases the data, we'll have it in the Research channel.
Hope that helps.
Bill J
But new powertrains count? The Tahoe Hybrid isn't a new or redesigned model. Why does powertrain get noted but not bodystyle?
LM: Yeah, that Tahoe was a tough one because you are absolutely right, it's not a truly new model for 2008 -- just the drivetrain.
We're starting to change how we cover hybrids in our Research section and, without getting too technical, because of the way the system sees the hybrids now, many are considered new models even when they're based on an existing one. That's why I hedged and said "generally" above.
Bill J.
It's cool. I just wanted to whine too. =)
As long as it's "constructive" whining, right?
=^P
But seriously, thanks Bill, that does help.
I was a proud owner of a 2005 Elantra GT hatch which I loved until I was in an accident and it was bye-bye Elantra. =^(
I was disappointed Hyundai didn't release a hatch or even a GT model (although I suppose the SE is close, but no suspension mods?)when the 2007 came out. I hope they rectify that for 2008.
I wanna go out on a limb and say that the Tahoe 2 Mode Hybrid is a VERY different vehicle, in a similar way that the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo is different from regular Lancers. There are lots of very subtle changes to decrease the weight of the vehicle, like an aluminum hood and thinner seats. I'm getting the impression from people who drove it this past week that it's the best truck GM has ever made.
Back OT, I'm enthused about the new CTS, but I'm severely pumped to see the new Astra.
Isn't the next Corrolla due soon?
The funny thing about Toyota and Honda, they don't seem to have the 'long lead leaks' in this country like the 'Merkins and Euro's do.
I mean we know EVENTUALY Nissan will sell the Skyline, but replacements for the NSX, S2000, MR2, or even the more common Accord, Corolla Odessy and Sienna? Not a word untill they're on the dealers lots.
Perhaps the Japanese mfcs are more concerned about copycats? GM/Ford/DC all show models long in advance...maybe because they replace models so infrequently.
We all know new Corollas and Accords are coming, generating enough hype as it is. They are on a regular schedule so there is no need to release early details.
Does anyone know when the 2008 Toyota Highlander Ltd (not Hybrid) is going to be available?
