Sentraser_1

Prices have just been announced for the new Nissan Sentra SE-R, which packs 177 hp and a continuously variable automatic transmission. The even sportier version of this sporty compact sedan is the SE-R Spec V, and it has 200 hp and a six-speed manual transmission. How much more would you pay for the sportier of the two? Surprisingly, you’ll only have to shell out an extra $500 when the car rolls onto dealer lots in April.

The Sentra SE-R starts at $19,400 and the SE-R Spec V starts at $19,900. Both prices exclude a $615 destination charge. The direct competition for the SE-R is the 197-hp Honda Civic Si, which can be had in coupe ($21,090) or sedan ($21,290) form. Early reports on the SE-R Spec V is that it is indeed faster than the Civic Si. Full option pricing is below.

  • Sentra SE-R 2.5-liter I-4 CVT: $19,400
  • Sentra SE-R Spec V 2.5-liter I-4 M/T: $19,900

I have not been a fan of Nissan's styling as of late but, is it me, or does this look like a baby Caddy?

Not bad at all.

Hmm, you know, I hadn't seen the resemblance in the front end until you brought it up.

I could do with out the yellow color though...

Nissan Needs To Add A Compact Coupe To Its Lineup Other Than The Z. The Sentra Would Look So Much Better As A Coupe And Would Probably Sway Many Of The Potential Si/ Gti Buyers Over To Nissans Side. Especially For A Car That Is Just As Fast Or Even More So Starting Under $20,000.

They did-it was called the 200SX. It wasn't sporty enough. If they rebirthed it and designed it just right (and priced it as well), it could sway a few Civic Si buyers.

Front grill has that signature subliminal "smile" that I am seeing on most vehicles today. Why is that? that aside, the car looks good. Seems Nissan is continuing the ride on the hot compact car scene.

Maybe the new Sentra is a "hit" somewhere else but where I live it's a "miss". Far more Civics and Corollas are seen. Perhaps the sports version of the Sentra will up sales. However I owned 2 Sentras and will never again own one of these pieces of junk again. My 2000 was the worst car ever, and after complaining Nissan wouldn't even respond.

just get a zx2 and turbo it or if you need a new car then get a cobalt SS

Bob

I see Chevy really improved the Cobalt by adding a new deck lid spoiler.
