Saturn Tackles Outlook Engine Lag
Saturn says it is now addressing a problem with transmission hesitation in its new Outlook SUV. As reported in our Dec. 5 full review, lag in the six-speed automatic was the only major strike against what is otherwise an impressive new eight-seat crossover. We found in our test Outlook that there was a slow reaction when the accelerator was depressed, and that raised safety concerns. As hoped, Saturn has developed a new calibration for the transmission-control module, which the company has begun to use in manufacturing new Outlooks. Though there is no recall at this time, any owner who is dissatisfied with the transmission performance can have it recalibrated at the dealership.
We’re attempting to get our hands on a revised Outlook as soon as possible and will report back if it gets a clean bill of health.

Well,
Hopefully this doesn't turn out like the calibration problems in the ION when it was offered with the 5sp auto. They changed it a couple of times, then dropped the 5sp auto in favor of the GM 4sp auto (which for some reason, delivered better fuel economy...).

I too noticed the lag on our test drive. It reminded me a lot of the way my wife's '02 Lexus initially shifted. That took three software updates until it was "fixed". All in all we found the Outlook to be very impressive but are apprehensive in buying a first year GM model based on past experience.

hope they fix the issue and this also boats well for the Buick version as it shouldn't have this.

Well, I purchased a Outlook, and wish that I would have seen your sight first, I am very disapointed in the reaction of the transmition, but when I address this with my dealer (which is app 50 miles away) they do not seem to understand what I am saying, any advice out there? Under my insistance they say they put a upgrade in the trans, but I have not noticed a significant improvement. arg!!!
