Cars.com Reviews the Lexus LS 460
We’ve tested the new LS 460’s automated parking system before, but now Mike Hanley gives a full report on the latest luxury cruiser from Lexus. Does it retain the “cloud on wheels” designation of its predecessor? Is it worth the extra ducats over the past model? We’re not going to tell you here; check out Mike’s full review.

Having recently leased a LS I take exception with two issues in what a pretty decent review. First to say that the "LS base price looks more reasonable" is a stupid statement. The LS is a downright bargain when compared to the A8, S Class and 7 Series. Secondly to say that Lexus does not have the same kind of renown as MB or BMW is such a silly statement that it proves he is merely a writer out on a test drive.
I've leased or owned all major luxary brands including Ferrari and Aston and Lexus is not only in the same catagory as the others but it's cache has certainly risen above BMW. My experience is based on the real world where the valets who park my car park it with the S Class and on occassion RR's right up front. I rarely see a 7 Series sitting as we say, "on the walk."
Ira,
None of the cars mentioned, including the LS, are a bargain in my book. The LS' price is just more tolerable than the others. And I have to disagree with you on the prestige issue, despite your prime parking spots. How do you think BMW and Mercedes can get away with selling their flagship sedans for so much more than the Lexus?
BMW and MB don't get away with selling at a higher price as they don't sell as many. Don't let any facts get in the way.
Don,
While important to a manufacturer, sales volume isn't that important to the consumer, who's usually only buying one car.
The base price for the 750i is $14,000 more than the LS and the S550 is about $24,000 more. Lexus did sell about 2,000 more LS models than BMW sold of the 7 Series last year, but Mercedes sold 30,886 S-Class sedans -- outselling the Lexus LS by 11,000 units.
