New York Auto Show: More Infiniti G37 Images

Newg37500

Infiniti only gave us a few shots of the new Infiniti G37 when we first learned about the new coupe. Today we received a handful of new photos that are very stylistic and show off a bit more of the G37. We’d still like some more traditional shots, but that might have to wait until we see the G37 in New York next week. Until then, the new photos are below.

Very nice coupe! From the regular pix I've seen online, I am wondering if this is the 1st Nissan product for USA that has Daytime Running lights??!! Follwing Honda & Toyota, I guess?!

GM was actually the first to come out with daytime running lamps. They tested it in 1994 on the Cutlass Ciera. It was standard on many vehicles after that.

Dunno if ur a pro GM supporter or not, but u r UTTERLY WRONG, bowrider. It started in many European vehicles (in the 80's), and in 1990 in Canada. ALL vehicles, had daytime running light, so GM's definitely not the 1st, and definitely not in 1994! If I remember correctly, some Japanese & European vehicles (BMW and MB) had DRL in the US as well at around the same time period.

According to wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRL
It was required in Sweden since 1977.
So I bet the Swedish car makers were the first one that used DRL.(SAAB and Volvo)
And GM didn't start with the Cutlass, but the Chevy Corsica.

You don't have to get so angry about it Amuro Ray. Thanks for clearing it up, J.

As for DRL's I *DON'T* want them. I can turn on my own damn lights.

J

But I do wanna know if the headlights would come on themselves when it gets dark outside on vehicles equipped with DRL.
Does it apply on all DRL equipped vehicles?
I have driven a 03 Bonneville, and it does.

lazy people, dont even wanna turn on the headlights :| ooooo it takes so much energy

Amuro Ray

Infosaur, the point of having DRL is NOT whether you want them or not...it's for the drivers of the opposite side to be able to see your vehicle even if you've decided NOT to turn on ur lights, esp in poor weather/visibility conditions...Statistics have shown that head-on collision with DRL vehicles have dramatically decreased under poor weather condition in Europe. As for AUTO headlights, all Infinitis have them since later 90's or early 2000's. Yes, it's for lazy people, but then again, it's for the others because lazy people like myself sometimes do forget to turn on the headlights!

An observation:
Those that hate DRL's frequently comment (upon coming across a car equiped with them), "Look at that stupid car with DRL's, I hate them."

Yup, you looked right at that car with DRL's. Now you see why others like them.

My family have driven Volvos since the mid-70s. All Volvos sold in the UK have had DRL's since they were available in Sweden (much earlier than '77).
As for the rest of Europe, I don't buy it. I remember driving through France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Northern Italy in '85 and '86 in a UK registered Volvo. Every place we went, someone would 'remind' us to turn off our 'parking lights'. It was so universal that it became annoying.
Certainly Sweden, and Canada have taken the lead with DRLs (both are in northern lattitudes), but the rest of Europe has been just as slow as the US, and they're still unusual over there. Just my $0.02 based on my own experience.
