Big Apple, Small Car: Suzuki SX4 Sedan Set for New York Auto Show

Sx4sedan

Suzuki just announced that it will debut the SX4 sedan at the New York Auto Show in early April. We saw a few early images of the trunkified SX4 last month and speculated about it coming to the U.S., but now we have some more hard facts to report. The 2008 SX4 sedan is based on the popular Suzuki Swift which is sold overseas. We’re happy to hear the new model will have a competitive 143 hp 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine.  There will be a choice of five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions like in the SX4 hatchback. The SX4 sedan will go on sale stateside this fall with prices still to be set.

Matt

Will it have AWD or FWD or both?

Dee

Looks a bit like the Corolla, which has been around now for 5 years!! But it is a bit nice looking!

They didn't say but all signs point to FWD.

Looks like a Toyota Echo to me!

It looks like a mini Nissan Altima to me.

i see a little Echo and a little Altima.

I don't see any echo in it all at. Place an image of both cars side by side and they are totally different. Perhaps more Altima'ish if anything.
Nicely done, Suzuki will do very well with this sedan. It will be front wheel drive which means it will be lighter and even lower price than the already best priced in catagory SX4 AWD hatchback! Should improve the gas mileage over the awd version too. Would be great if Suzuki would offer this car with an otpional 1.6 gas or the diesle engine avaibable in europe.
But even with the 2 litre petrol version I think this sedan will be a value leader in compact-inexpensive sedans. Suzuki's 7yr, 100'000 mile warranty will certainly help too!
