2008 Hummer H2 Gets Nicer Interior, Badder Engine

H2500

The H2 brought the Hummer brand to the masses, but today it seems a little outdated on the road. Even so, it still has fans out there, and the company has treated them with a dramatically improved interior and new 6.2-liter V-8 engine for both the H2 SUV and SUT.

On the outside, we don’t think anyone will notice larger openings in the grille and a silver-painted bumper, as that’s all that has changed. Inside is where it counts. The entire instrument panel has been redesigned, there are new seats, new door trim and a full third-row seat for the first time.

The engine is a 393-hp V-8 with 415 pounds-feet of torque, good for a towing capacity of 8,200 pounds — a 1,700-pound bump over the outgoing model. The H2 also gets new standard safety equipment, including curtain airbags for all three rows of seats, seat belt pretensioners, electronic stability control with rollover mitigation, a tire pressure monitoring system and a panic brake assist.

Hummer says the new H2 will go on sale “later this year,” so we’re guessing after the summer. We’ll let you know when we hear something more definitive. Check out more pictures of the interior and exterior below.

This is what gm is known for and always will be known for: GAS-GUZZLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! also the nav is poorly placed, it should up between the vents

I've never been a great fan of Hummers in general, or the H2 specifically, but I have to admit, the interrior of this is kind of cool, in a "I'm driving a shuttlecraft on the street" sort of way.

It could use some udpated wheels.

owned an 03 H2SUV(pewter); thought one time was enough--got the "soccer-dad" F-150 Supercrew--hated it for the four months of blah!!; wife said go for it--got a 06H2 SUT Fusion Orange LE love it--truck version so much more driveable for visibility; looks; and rear power window makes awesome open feel; don't like the new 08 looks interior--too much of your"daddy's" cadillac --Remember it's jarhead big brother is an H1. Let's "not" escalade the Hummer

I just purchased a 2008 H2 and I have to say that it is the greatest Hummer ever!

The new interior is much better than the 07. Sadly, the Hummer is still the same old joke it's always been, except now it has a mildly improved interior. It remains the worst value on the road. Most owners simply are unaware of just how many people are laughing behind their backs as they lumber down the road.

The 2008 Hummer interior is too much like a luxury SUV, lest we forget, the H2 IS NOT an SUV, it is a truck. My massive, beautiful, $110,000 customized 2006 Hummer H2 IS TOO COOL AND AWESOME TO WASTE TIME DEBATING WITH THE TINY "Prius-loosers" OUT THERE, WHO SIMPLY CAN'T AFFORD to drive a wonderful H2 (like mine), so they condem what they can't afford. I SAY GO GREEN... spend all the GREEN (dollars) you have on gas, the best way to shut up the Liberal loosers whos little pee on cars hide in the shadow of my H2!
