All-New 2008 Volvo V70

V701

Volvo’s all-new large wagon has a new inline six-cylinder engine, new interior and exterior designs, upgraded child booster seats and, like you would expect from Volvo, a lot of safety features. The new V70 should arrive later in 2007 and will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Like the new Volvo S80 sedan, the V70 gets improved interior materials. Under the bulging hood is a 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine rated at 235 hp, which the company says is “efficient,” though it hasn’t released mileage figures yet.

Volvo wagons aren’t about performance, though, they’re about safety. The V70 has dual, height-adjustable, child boosters in the second row and upgraded side-curtain airbags that extend lower to protect smaller children.

When needed, the rear seat splits and folds in 40/20/40 sections. There is also an optional power rear tailgate — a feature we see primarily in minivans and SUVs — and a sliding cargo floor.

There’s a slew of additional safety features, including multiple front crumple zones and a whiplash protection system, but we don’t want to bore you too much before showing you the rest of the photos below. Expect price and availability information to be announced in March.

Front-end styling reminds me a bit of BMW wagons.

al

remind you of bmw styling? are you kidding me....you probbably dont have your glasses on and cant see...because this is nothing like a bmw...matter fact way better than a bmw wagon period.

Looks Good. I have always felt Volvo makes the best wagons, and this one will continue on with that tradition. I like how they kept the classic Volvo-wagon look, and yet it still looks very fresh.

Volvo seems to be the only company who can actually make a wagon look sexy. Nice job.

Stunning looks!since the car is a Volvo, we can expect that the car will be loaded with the best and the latest in safety technology. They have done many things by improving the performance of EBC Greenstuff http://www.activebrakesdirect.com/ebcgreenstuff.html
with their perfect balance of power and refinement that brings it to the industry.

Volvo wagons are about comfort, versatility, safety, AND performance.
I own a 2001 V70 T5 which goes from standstill to 100km/h in 7.4 seconds and does 80-120km/h in the same time as a Corvette. It feels smooth, powerful, and stable in turns. I am very impressed, amongst many virtues, with the V70's performance.
The T6 version of the 2008 model should be ample power for big hauls and long highway trips.

i want to replace my car this year... and volvo c30 is my choice. Cool luxury and sexy wagon. And Volvo really knows the word "safety." Starting from volvo turn signal - http://www.swedishpartsshop.com/volvoturnsignal.html - to all safety features, volvo really made its name for it.

New VOLVO V70
Front view: Similar to the S80, goal achieved
Side view: Good proportions, nice looking
Inside: Prefer the current version
Rear view: Has a slight SUBARU touch, prefer the current version
General notice: Next car, in any case will again be a VOLVO

A.R.

Now it looks big, almost makes me wish there was a wagon to slot in between the v50 and v70. The interior was already great on the current one, by they stepped it up. From the last redesign which was revolutionary for the Volvo, I expected another bold redesign and this comes up short. It's very nice though, and I hope they introduce a sportier version (a la R), without the spread out Volvo on the hatch.

I wonder what the Cross Country will look like!
