Suzuki SX4 Sedan Planned for Geneva Motor Show, Maybe U.S.

We hate to bring you news that isn’t complete, but sometimes web buzz dictates such. Today, MotorTrend brings us word that the new Suzuki SX4 — which we reviewed in a positive light — will add a sedan body style to its lineup. Currently in the U.S., the SX4 is an all-wheel-drive hatchback, and this sedan would only be available with front-wheel drive. For Europe, the new sedan will pack a smaller 107-hp four-cylinder engine. Like we said, we don’t have complete information yet, but we wanted to bring you these pictures of the sedan. An SX4 sedan would be a great replacement for the aging Suzuki Aerio here, if they gave it the 143-hp engine found in the hatchback.

Kind of funny that the hatch is for the states and the sedan is headed to Europe.

Europe does have the SX4 hatch. They even have it in a diesel version that the US probably wont get.

US currently has the hatch and word is that the sedan is coming here too. Could be part of the planned phase-out of the korean re-badged cars that Suzuki is selling... the reno and forenza.
I hope they atleast make the 1.6 an option on the US sedan. Most likely though it will have the 2.0 litre currenlty offered in the SX4 hatch. The 1.6 would be a good option for those seeking maximum MPG, specially since it will be a front wheel drive only car in the USA.
I like the fact that the European SX4 has a 6-speed manual transmition. Much better than the 5-speed that comes in the US versions.
The sedan will sell well here in North America because of the Suzuki warranty and the low price for a car loaded with features that the other car companies charge you extra for.

Even with the larger 2.0, the lack of AWD will probably raise mileage to the 30+ mpg level. If its interior is the same level as the hatch I could see it stealing lots of Yaris sales.(Fit and Versa being hatches) and I'd expect it to be less than the $15K SX4 hatch as well, which comes well equipped at that price.
If its $13K it could be a huge huge seller.

That's a sharp little sedan! Fresh styling, a bit more crisp than what toyota offers but no so "space module" looking as the new honda's. I bet this car will come loaded like the SX4 hatchback and Aerio do already. Since the sedan will be front wheel drive it will be a lighter car than the hatch which means it will probably get about 27mpg city and 34 mpg highway. I think the base model fwd sedan will be priced at $13,995 delivered. Suzuki is already the fastest growing Japanese car brand in the USA, and when this car is avaibable, its really gonna put a dent in the sales of cars like the yaris, fit, versa, and also all the econoboxes that the korean brands sell.
Bottom line - I couldn't see myself driving a yaris or versa, they're just took strange looking but I'd deffintely roll an SX4 Sedan!

hi

why is everyone repeating the previous entry? it looks cool, no awd is lame...smaller more efficient engine would be better...
have an aerio...built like it's made of cardboard...hope they make this one more sturdy
