EPA Releases Official 2008 Mileage Calculator
Yesterday, we told you about Kiplinger’s handy tool to convert a 2007 model’s mileage to the new standards used by the EPA for 2008 cars. Today, we heard word that the government has launched a similar website using the new EPA guidelines.
The site doesn’t look like it’s supplying results that differ much from Kiplinger, with base mileage dropping roughly 2 mpg across the board. Hybrids and SUVs see larger drops. The federal site also allows users to input their real-world mileage, so you can see what actual drivers are getting. Of course, that leaves a lot to the honor system, but it’s still an interesting addition.
