Yahoo Coming to a Dashboard Near You

Dashnavsystem

One of the coolest things about GPS, aka navigation systems, is the feature that tells you of nearby gas stations and restaurants. No matter where you are in the country, you can find a golden arch or an Italian flag denoting different eating choices. Now, a company called Dash Navigation is teaming with Yahoo to allow drivers to search for virtually anything, including more up-to-date and varied restaurants, movie theaters — and we’d assume showtimes — and more via the web on a new GPS device coming later this year.

Our main problem with any navigation system is entering the terms/street names we need with only a few available buttons. It’s certainly too cumbersome for the driver, and entering something into a Yahoo search might be even harder. We still welcome the concept, though, because who hasn’t been running errands and decided they’d like to catch a movie or dinner somewhere but doesn’t have all the relevant information? Or maybe that’s just us.
