2007 Detroit Auto Show: 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10
We’re not surprised Dodge can generate 600 hp with the 8.4-liter V-10 in the new 2008 Viper SRT10 coupe and convertible. No, the surprise is that they actually did it. A bigger surprise will be if anybody buys it. You see, driving last year’s Viper wasn’t the easiest task in the world; driving this thing may be akin to strapping a rocket to your back and hopping on a skateboard.
The car was upgraded to 600 hp in order to best the Corvette Z06’s 505 hp, and it does — though with a similar zero to 60 time, stated as “under 4 seconds.” If one of these goes by you at high velocity you may not notice the new front end and multi-ducted hood. You will notice a loud snarl, though, as we’re sure the exhaust note will be even more brutal than last generation’s when it hits the streets this summer. Make sure to hold your kid’s hand when crossing the street.

you know whats funny that the 2008 Ford GT500 Super Snake has just as much horsepower as your Viper and if you wanted you can make it so you have up to 725hp thats 125 more horse with a V8 and your only pushing 600 with a V10 thats bad really bad you get better gas mileage with the Mustang than with the Viper you have two more cylinders
Colton brings up a good point, but I think I'd like to see the race track decide which car is better. I've got a sneaking suspicion that the Viper would whip the Mustang GT500 Super Snake on the corners.
2008 Ford GT500 will have 500hp you moron.
And they have 2003 Vipers pumped out to 1,000hp already, you can EASILY get a 2008 Viper to that and then some.
You just don't grasp the old REALITY of: DISPLACEMENT DISPLACEMENT DISPLACEMENT.
Not to mention, nobody turns their head to look at another Mustang. You bring ANY year Viper around and EVERYONE is looking, period, end of story.
George,
Colton was talking about the Super Snake..."you moron." There will be a 725hp option (though I don't think they'll warranty that one). You can have your onlookers with your Viper. We'll have to wait until these cars are actually track tested to see the comparos.
