New Chrysler Incentive: Free Hemi Engines and DVD Systems
If you’re looking to buy a new Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep truck, wait until March, when DaimlerChrysler will start a new marketing campaign that will offer an upgrade to its popular Hemi V-8 engine at no additional cost. The standard price of the Hemi is $1,700.
Are you more of a family man with no need for the extra horsepower and gas-guzzling of a V-8 engine? Then wait until April when Chrysler will put a free $1,000 DVD entertainment system into every minivan it sells.
There will also be additional cash back and low interest-rate offers introduced later this month on the automaker’s minivans, Dodge Ram pickup, Chrysler 300C and Dodge Charger.

The free hemi and dvd player could possibly help Chrysler sell more cars.
It's really too bad about the timing of Chrysler's fabulous Hemi and high gas prices. Hope they don't give up the Hemi completely due to slower demand.
I suspect this is only the first step. American car makers must be super desparate to move their inferior products. I'm looking forward to the day when I get the car for free and in return I just have it serviced at the dealership. Sort of like a lease but instead the car owner will have equity in the vehicle.
Chrysler doesn't have to worry about gas as much with the Hemi. Any one looking for a v8 will find out soon enough, that this years Hemi shuts down 4 cylinders when power is not needed, and gets the same exact gas mileage as the 4.7 liter v8 (an engine a whole liter smaller and 100 horsepower less). NO ONE ever went into a car dealership unsure of which was more important to them, 350 horsepower or 5 more mpg.
wow. a free dvd system? thats pretty big. i wonder if its free or if its "free" once all else is paid for. i had no idea the hemi engines were so advanced as to shut down cylinders when not needed. kudos.
Well I used to own a 2004 quad cab 4.7 liter and the average milage on that was 14.1.. yes average.. city and highway.. now I own a hemi engine 2006.. I needed more power due to towing and thought fuel was going to be worse but the multidisplacment and driving at an average speed of 70+ mph with combined city and idling the engine for 10 mins or more daily.. I average 17.9 miles per gallon consistently.. great improvement looking forward to 2009 hemi more power and still same or better fuel economy.. and that will be great with the new epa guidlines.
