2007 Detroit Auto Show: More on the Lincoln MKR Concept

Mkronblack

This morning, we dusted off the confetti from yesterday’s celebrations and found a photo treasure trove of the Lincoln MKR Concept we brought you a few days ago. Keep reading for more photos, and make sure not to miss the tire complete with Lincoln emblem right in the tread. That’s what concept cars are all about.

hm Lincoln emblem on tires, their either very very proud of this car or they want people to KNOW that this is a Lincoln. Push button transmission the only time i've seen that was when Boyd Coddington used them on American Hotrod.

Mercedes uses a very small stalk on its automatics that put the car in P, R and D. I'm sure it could be converted to buttons as well but I'm guessing most drivers would be really disoriented by that. It is a neat idea though, but also better out of reach of the passenger ;)

Pushbutton transmissions were used in cars made by Chrysler for around ten years beginning in the mid 50s when they first started producing cars with automatic transmissions. They switched to column shifters possibly to conform to what everyone was used to. Today some makers of expensive cars do things just because they're not what everyone is used to.

Car Expert

I have troubled myself to find fault with the product from Lincoln. As a young driver, I feel that, like most Americans, Lincoln cars are for the older crowd. However, this car is fantastic. Truly a work of automotive elegance and brilliance. Ford, if you are listening and are wholeheartedly interested in reinventing the Lincoln marque, build this car. Trust me, people will buy a car that can turn heads like this can. And please, do not use the "parts bin" to build this car as done on the interior of the Linoln MKZ.

This car is great...It looks really good..Ford has finally started making good looking cars that will attract people....This car will most likely sell on the market...but we really dont know yet

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A MAJOR FA0N OF LINCOLN CARS
AND ALWAYS WILL BE, HOWEVER I THINK LINCOLN
NEEDS TO STEP UP THERE APPEARANCE PACKAGEIN
ORDER TO GET THE TRUE ATTENTION IT DESERVES.
WE ALL KNOW LINCOLN IS ONE OF THE SMOOTHEST,
QUIETIEST DRIVING CARS OF ALL TIME, BUT ONCE THEY UPGRADE THERE APPERANCE, THEY WILL BE IN
FULL THROTTLE. HOLLLA BACK.
