2007 Detroit Auto Show: 2008 Lexus IS-F

Isfdriving

Lexus finally joins the high-performance luxury car fray today with the introduction of the 2008 Lexus IS-F. The car is based on a regular IS sedan but is beefed up significantly with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that pumps out over 400 hp and 350 pounds-feet of torque, paired to the same eight-speed transmission found in Lexus’ LS 460 flagship sedan. The new car will hit 60 mph in less than 4.9 seconds.

The styling has also gotten the high-performance treatment, most noticeably on the side, where there’s a huge scoop behind the front wheels. The front and rear get more bodywork than before, and paired with the car’s larger wheels and lower stance it makes an aggressive statement. We also love the off arrangement of the quad tailpipes. For Lexus’ first leap into the ultra-performance arena, there doesn’t seem to be much missing. We are bummed that we won't see one on the road until early 2008.

I like the interior, but the body kit is a bit much.

one ugly overly done car period.

Not liking it one bit!

Will that be stock ride height? Can't imagine how much the tires will rub the fenders. Stacked dual tailpipes are certainly, um, unique...

Looks like they made the front (A-pillar and fore) a little longer than the regular IS.

8AT is good, but PLEASE, do make it an option to have a MT.

Not attractive from the outside, and only having an automatic transmission is just ridiculous. Not even F1 cars have eight speeds. Six speeds would almost certainly provide better performance. That tranny is wonderful for taming the 4.6L V8 in the LS, but not for anything fun.

its F'n ugly...pun intended

wow, this is one ugly car. good luck.

Beautiful, though they could tone it down a little. It is great to see Lexus re-enter the performance market, considering their past with the 2JZ powered IS300, SC300, etc.

so amazing car, i will thinking serisouly to buy this car as soon as possible... ^_^

viva viva is300 @_@

Who ever calls this car ugly is an ugly mofo himself!!...may have changed a few designs here and there, but can't say its ugly!...

Let us keep the priorities in check.... This baby will have over 400hp out of its V8. Combine the paddle shifters...Hold on. This car wins in my book on sheer performance. And looks are not bad at all. Good job, Sign me up.

If is350 is impressive enough, what more for an upgrade of exterior design and power output. I'm all for it!

LEXUS RULE's

ONE OF THE BEST SPORTS CARS ON EARTH!!!
