Chrysler Prices Diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee

2007jeepgccrd

This March, Jeep will start selling a diesel-powered version of its Grand Cherokee SUV. The 3.0-liter V-6 common rail turbodiesel engine — called CRD for short — offers 376 pounds-feet of torque, which is more than the optional Hemi V-8 while getting around 50% better gas mileage. The CRD starts at $37,885 before a $695 destination charge.

Cars.com’s Joe Wiesenfelder drove a pre-production Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD over the summer and came away mightily impressed. Full model lineup prices are below, excluding the destination charge.

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x2           $37,780
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4           $41,020
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x2        $41,265
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4        $44,700

Big props to Chrysler for taking diesels headon. They are the only domestic taking them seriously, adding them in stuff that isn't just a full-size pickup. But why so expensive? You can get a well-equipped 4x4 Toyota 4Runner for just $34,350.

I agree. I'm very happy to see more diesels, but
that's a pretty hefty toll to pay for the privilege. Why not offer it in the Grand Cherokee Laredo to squeak under $30k?

Joe

Great idea, but way to expensive for a Jeep.

I will be buying a new vehicle this year to replace my current truck and was very interested in the turbodiesel engine Grand Cherokee, but not at that price!

I think they see it as equivalent to a Hemi V-8 and are charging for such. Personally I think the price is pretty high too.
Supposedly Chrysler is coming out with a significant restructuring plan soon. perhaps, like GM did last year, they'll adjust their prices to lessen incentives.

Troy

Too expensive. Looks dated.

I own a Jeep Cherokee and love it but want the new diesel model. I will not pay over $35,000.00 for it so I guess I will buy another brand. Price matters.

Wanna Jeep CRD

I guess you guys will all have to wait like me. The dealers can't order them and ones that were ordered are frozen... Anyone now what happened? The dealers I've been to can;t even give an estimate for shipment. SOme say end of the year before they arrive, which is too late for me. Lease goes back soon. :-(

Another case of overpricing by a German maker. It is a pity that they prefer to sell Mercs than Dodges/Jeeps.

Greg

Why is not a manual trans offered?

I can just see the engine pulling and the tranny not being there for the long hauls.
