2007 Chicago Auto Show: 2008 Nissan Titan
Nissan entered the full-size truck market with the Titan in 2004, but it didn’t endear itself to many truck fans. The 2008 model will arrive this spring sporting the new corporate truck face seen on the new Pathfinder and Armada. It will also come in a long-wheelbase version. There’s also a new trim called PRO-4, which joins the XE, SE and LE versions.
Inside the Titan we see some upgraded materials and a lot of new features, like optional Bluetooth hands-free calling, heated leather seats and a DVD entertainment system.
Power comes from a 317-hp, 385 pounds-feet of torque V-8 engine that’s rated to tow 9,500 pounds. That figure doesn’t match new offerings from Toyota and Chevrolet, which both best the 10,000-pound mark.

well that wasn't worth it, it still has that horrible fit and finish look to it, especially with the bumper and the grill...egh nissan needs to grow some and design something edgy, not just straighten out the lines to all of its vehicles...
THE MID CYCLE UPDATE IS GREAT. STILL STANDS OUT. I LOVE THE HEADLIGHTS AND OVERALL EXTERIOR POLISH AND THE ADDITION TO A LONG BED. THAT IS HORRIBLE THAT THEY ALWAYS GET BIGGER. THE INTERIOR HAS MOVED UPSCALE AS WITH THE ARMADA. DON'T WORRY, THE NEXT GENERATION WILL STIFFEN THE COMPETITION. THEY WON THE BATTLE WHEN THEY FIRST INTRODUCED THE TRUCK AND I SEE NO HARM IN INNOVATIONS TO COME. A V6, REWORKED V8, AND A DIESEL. AND THEY ALWAYS BRING NEW STUFF TO THE TRUCK SEGMENT. THE TRUCKS LOOKS FRESH WITHOUT BEING OVERDONE AS WITH THE TUNDRA AND ITS OVER DRAMATIC STYLING. BUT THEY WIN WITH THEIR BIGNESS IN POWER AND SIZE.
won the truck battle? with who imports? HA you have nothing on my silverado, and the sales back me up.
I don't think any domestic, Chevy Silverado included, has a say in the matter. The gig is up and all the Big 3 can do is hang on and see how hard a punch will land on their chin. I really don't know how well this latest Titan design beefs up Nissan's appeal with truck buyers, but the new Toyota Tundra is about to steal market share from everyone. Chevy, Ford and Dodge will see declining sales for the next 5 years.
New Tundra is going to steal market shares from everyone? Are you kidding? That's one of the silliest looking trucks I've ever seen, inside and out. Just being a Toyota isn't going to be enough to wrestle the full-size truck segment away from the Big 3. The styling has to be right. Big truck buyers are conservative, and they don't want a truck that looks like it came out of a Japanamation cartoon. Sorry, but the new Tundra needs a mid-life refreshening already...
As far as the Titan goes, I like what they've done with it. It really needed attention in the inside, so hopefully it looks as good as the Armada. I am curious about why car/truck manufacturers insist on mounting the side-view mirrors up high in the window frame instead of on the door. With A-pillars growing thicker and thicker due to safety requirements, the mirror placement just increases the already large blind spot. I've ridden in a friends Titan, and I can tell you that they blind spot caused by the A-pillar and the mirror are pretty bad.

A mid-model correction is nice, but I can't help but wonder if the appalling quality problems the Titan had, especially in the first couple of years of production, have been fixed. VW had awful quality on their fourth-generation Jetta/Golf, all the way up until the end of production--sometimes the platform can't be fixed...
As the owner of a 2006 Nissan Titan Crew Cab LE I can attest to both it's shortcomings and achievements. At the end of the day though all I can say is that I love my truck and have not had any problems. I have had it for over a year now. I have to say that I am interested in the new Tundra although the look is a little to over the top for me. But after seeing it in person it looks better.
LOL, American pick up trucks are the only thing that American car companies are good at making...and the titan is better off roading the any silverado, I am the proud owner of a nissan xterra off road and have drivin both silverado and titan, Titan wins hands down, faster, stronger.....more power and better off road equipment...resale value is much better as well so for all you silverado lovers....forget it talk all you want but off road tests show whos king of the mountain.
I dig the 2008 Titan, Looks aggressive, very capable off road and loaded with some smart features. Pricing keeps it more competitive than it's bow-tie competitors. I hate the dismal fuel economy of the truck though, probably the only thing keeping me from buying one. The Fosgate system with XM kicks butt for stock stereo. I think the spartan interior works well in the truck. Now with a LWB option on the crew cab, it only needs a diesel power plant.
To segfault - As a 2004 Titan owner.. I haven't had any issue with it, besides the brake recall. Which Nissan took care of and Extended the warranty! When does Detriot extend a warranty? To your quality issues.. you are full of BS. Talk to people who own the titan. For a first year model, everyone said stay away. But Nissan's not a big 3 from Detriot and it's been a very dependable truck. I can't say that for the friends who own Chevy and Dodge trucks.
The interior needed an update, I can't wait to check it out. I really can't wait to see the 2009 additions to the Titan line... even more heavy duty with diesel.
anyone who thinks dodge chev and ford can compare forget it. Just remember dependable which dodge aint nor ford. Chev is better than dodge and ford because i drive them everyday. NISSAN and toyota will eat them for breakfast.
lolyou have got to be kidding lol this truck cant compete with any of the big 3 no class or style
I just bought a 2008 Titan LE Short Bed. I have owned 2 Z71 Chevy Silverados and my whole family has ties to Chevrolet (Grandfather and father were on the service council) I have a friend that's a salesmen for a local Ford dealer. I can tell you that the new Titan with the upgraded interior accessories, power, and space blow away any of the Chevy or Ford's I have owned or drove. I test drove the similiar model of Tundra and felt like I was going to tip over when making sharp turns. I just wanted to offer my opinion due to the fact I used to be a Chevy guy. Never will go back after having so many issues with the Silverado. I hope all of these people that are knocking the Titan have driven one otherwise you are way off base.
Can someone explain the rear-end ratios that Nissan uses and translate them into a comparable domestic truck ratio. I am looking at an 08 Titan that the literataure says has a 2.94 ratio, but that seems waaaay too high for a full-size truck.
Help!!!!
i own a 2008 titan.more power than ive ever owned before.sharp looking truck.i wouldnt trade it for any other truck.
I recommend the ZEON FX Flash Headlight Assembly Kit for the Nissan Titan 2008 and below models. Its great driving at night or under bad weather conditions. I'm not sure if ZEON FX are compatible for the 2009 models and above.
