Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia Problem Revealed
Cars.com’s Joe Wiesenfelder has the details on the problem that has temporarily stopped the sale of GM’s new Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia from being sold to the public. The issue seems to be a motor mount that can collect water and freeze during cold weather. This would lead to vibration and roughness during driving.
There is a relatively simple fix — drilling drainage holes so the water never collects — that can be done at the dealership. The extreme move of stopping sales was to ensure a successful launch of both vehicles. There is still no word on when both models will go on sale.

Gee, nothing like taking my new vehicle to the dealer so they can drill holes into it.
Clearly the Japs employ the better engineers and have done so for a looooooong time.

There was a time when GM would have just said, "well, we don't know why, but it's just going to run rough when it's cold outside." So, this is an improvement.

ugh... and I thought GM was over this by now.
So let me get this straight, you guys are criticizing GM for being proactive and ensuring a smooth product launch. Get a grip and realize all car manufacturers will have some problems throughout a car life-cycle. Even your Japanese engineers from Toyota had a huge problem in May of this year when they had to recall nearly 1 million vehicles, models mostly MADE IN JAPAN. According to Toyota, the intermediate shafts and sliding yokes in the recalled cars lack the necessary strength and could distort or crack under strong pressure, causing drivers to lose control of the steering wheel.
I would gladly take drilled holes over losing control of my steering wheel. I could go on with the recalls that Toyota had this year, and you could do the same thing about GM and Ford. As a car buff, and an owner of both a GM and Honda vehicle, American cars are getting better and often criticized by bias and ignorant people.
"Red Tag Event", "Employee Pricing", "Up to $8,000 In Rebates!" These are slogans you will never hear from Honda and Toyota as it's entirely unnecessary. Build a quality product and people will beat a path to your door. For the life of me I just can't imagine a Jap car company telling the dealer to "just drill holes in it. That'll fix it."
My Honda ran for 300,000 miles without ever seeing a dealer! I never opened the hood even!
It ran with the original oil in it and is still going strong!

In an age where cars are getting more andmore unreliable, I am glad to have one of the few brands of car sthat actually starts anymore.

That is why there will never be a Honda or Toyota at least a new one anyway in my garage, hey I wont buy a car no matter how well made they are or at least people claim they are, every new car I have owned and I am up to 6, has had some type of rebate, biggest rebate plus dealer incentive was $8000 on my 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo SS, and even the very first new car had a nice $1500 rebate my 1992 Chevy Lumina, if a car company wants my business, they must sacrfice a little dough to get their car in my garage.
I really hope that people like Nic and Craig are just trying to get a rise out of others, because if people are really as dumb as these two tools, this world has bigger problems than the automotive industry.

All car companies issue recalls. Only the major ones get mainstream attention. Both the US and Japan make good as well as bad cars. It's stupid to judge a car based on country of origin. etc. etc. blah. blah. blah.
hehe well I'm not mad and actually the Happy Honda Days comment was pretty funny. This also is not a recall and I'm posting a follow up very soon on the whole situation. This isn't that big a deal besides the fact that I'm guessing a few sales were missed this week because of the issue.

I wish to know if the Happy Honda Days includes 2007 models?
I doubt it phily. Only clearing out 2006 models I'm sure. I've noticed mostly Pilots, Ody's and Ridgelines (the expensive and least fuel efficient Hondas) in my area.

Anyway, what I was trying to say is that, GM's red tag event even includes 2007. They are making their own brand cheap, so what else can I say about them?
