Aston Martin Debuts V8 Vantage Roadster

Aston1

We’re still a few weeks out from the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show, but automakers can’t keep their excitement under wraps. Aston Martin just sent over information on the V8 Vantage roadster it will display at the show. Based on the Vantage coupe, the roadster version features the same 380-hp engine as its hardtop brethren and hits 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. Not too shabby for a convertible. Plus, it’s quite a looker. For those who want a British exotic, you can’t go wrong here.

Prices haven’t been announced, but we’d guess there will be around a $10,000 - $20,000 increase on the coupe’s $107,400 sticker. Expect the V8 Vantage roadster to arrive at an upscale dealer near you around the middle of 2007. We’ll bring you more on the V8 Vantage roadster during our coverage of the L.A. Auto Show at the end of the month. For now, enjoy the photos below.

In the last picture, the one with the red interior shot showing the entire front dash and such, where is the shifter? Has it been photoshop'd out of there? Does it retract into the console? Man that's weird!

You shift through the paddles behind the steering wheel!!! Some people must be living under a rock!

there is a manual model, that interior shot is of the auto which would have paddles yes. To be fair we do show one with the stickshift.

usually an automatic with paddle shifters still has a "PRND" lever ... just my 2 cents from looking at car magazines ... regardless, what a HOT car!!! saw a coupe on the road and it has a presence like an exotic car.

If you look at the steering wheel, on the bottom left quadrant you'll see buttons for neutral, slow speed (eg. for parking), sportshift, and automatic modes. I'm waiting for the delivery of my roadster...can't wait! I opted for paddle shift but have never driven one. I hope it was the right choice.

OK. So firstly, the buttons in the lower quadrant of the steering wheel are for volume control. Secondly, only cheep cars still require a PRNDL lever to do automanual. It looks like more than just a few people live under rocks.
