GM Raising Prices, Slightly
To combat increased material costs, GM is raising prices on a third of its 2007 models. The price bumps will be small, between $60 and $425, with most falling in the $90 - $120 range. The main reason for the move is the rising cost of steel, though GM says it also includes “other commodities.” We don’t believe the well-documented health care costs GM is experiencing is factored into this price hike. Small price hikes like this are also common among import manufacturers.

How about this, instead of buying foreign steel at higher costs why doesn't GM try buy American steel ? I know that there is plenty of steel being produced here in the U.S. and I would be willing to bet that it would be much cheaper to purchase and transport that foreign steel is.
