Ford Fusion Coming to Happy Meals

Fordfusionhotwheel_2

Hot on the exhaust pipe of Hummer’s recent foray as a McDonald’s Happy Meal prize, Ford is offering a limited edition jet-equipped Fusion Hot Wheels toy. Of course, the jet engine is non-functional and Fusion is part of a collection of eight cars, but it’s the only one that resembles a production car. Ford is hoping the marketing attempt rubs off on parents looking for a family sedan, but we’re not so sure on how you measure that.

Maybe if Ford offered a special "Happy Meal Edition" Fusion styled like the toy, it might get some attention...
Too bad the Warner Brother's special edition Chevy Venture didn't have more of a Loony Toons motif...

This is another perfect example of poor marketing.Sure kids would love HUMMER....kids always like rugged looking trucks...its the same "kids" that buy the real HUMMERS (when they are grown up),but I dont think any soccer mom or future "would be" car buyer would be wooed into a Fusion just because Mickey Ds offers a toy version that does not even appproximate the production version.Ford's marketing plans should be called "conFUSION"....they should be promoting concept BRONCO with Mickey D toys (they already offer remote control Broncos at Family Dollar),not a facelifted Mazda thats "jet" powered.
