Big Three Going With Luxury Alcantara Fabric in 2007

Alcantara

Chrysler, Cadillac and Mercury will start offering suede-like Alcantara leather in certain sports edition models next year. Alcantara is best known for its use in performance cars like the BMW M3 because it holds drivers in their seats better than standard leather. It’s easy for us to guess that Chrysler’s SRT models and Cadillac’s V series will see Alcantara, but we’re mystified at which Mercury interior will get such treatment. Perhaps it will be one of its SUVs, like the Mountaineer. That seems like a bit of a waste to us.

Grand Marquis Sport anyone?

what?! It could happen!

Sulli

It's the redesigned Mercury Mariner that with have the Alcantara trimmed interior. . . at least according to the article that you guys wrote about it a few weeks ago. Can I have a job? lol

Sulli

To correct my last comment- I read about the interior on Edmunds.com

thanks Sulli.
Well Alcantara announced the big three stuff today and made no mention of the specific vehicles. Interesting to hear the Mariner will have it. We didn't see that when we reported about the revised mariner two weeks ago.

segfault

Maybe the Mercury Marauder will have it? Oh, wait, they don't make that anymore. It would look nice in the Lincoln Zephyr/MKS.

Very luxe. I know it's seen as an item only for very high-end cars, but I wonder how the actual cost per square foot of Alcantara compares to leather.

Chrysler should dump this stuff and offer "soft Corinthian leather"

The Mercury MILAN will be offering this as part of an appearance pkg on 2007 models.

I found Spiegel store which offers all branded & latest apparel at discounted prices.....
