All-New GMC Acadia Pricing Announced

2007gmcacadia

We’ve been telling anyone who will listen that we think GM’s new trio of crossovers — the Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave — will be big hits for the company. We also included the caveat that the price would have to be right. Today, GM announced pricing for the 2007 GMC Acadia starting at $29,990 for front-wheel-drive models. The under-$30,000 tag line will obviously be on every ad when the Acadia goes on sale at the end of 2006. The all-wheel-drive Acadia will start at $31,990; both prices include a $735 destination charge. Standard features include side airbags for all three rows of seating, stability control with rollover mitigation, four-wheel-disc antilock brakes and 18-inch wheels.

Full pricing for options, appearance packages and all the other goodies that raise sticker prices has yet to be announced. The sticker price a few thousand dollars over competitors like the Chrysler Pacifica seems about right. Of course, we’d prefer it even less, but the Saturn Outlook should have a lower price point when it comes to market.

YAWN...yet another SUV. Who cares???

well M3 many people are looking for vehicles that can seat more than 5 people relatively comfortably (large families) with decent mileage (This gets 18/26 mpg) and that isn't a minivan. It is a big trend as folks move away from truck based SUVs to these car-based (or more apt unibody) crossovers and this is one of the firt ones to come to market exploiting the new trend. Besides the GMs, Mazda is coming out with a CX-9 that has three rows of seats and they discontinued their MPV minivan.

$32k for a 4WD with cloth seats? The Pilot is a much better value, although its EPA rating is lower.

Happymantis

Okay, GM and other American car manufacturers have got to stop with those really stupid chrome wheels, they look so cheesy! How about a low-dull metal that looks less tacky and more contemporary?

ermatthe

the chrome wheels are an option if I'm not mistaking. I sell GMCs and believe it or not, show a customer a vehicle with the standard wheel s sitting next to one with the chrome wheels and maybe 90% of the time they'll prefer the chrome.

segfault,
Remember the Pilot is an aging platform soon to be replaced too. I think the GMs, if they can deliver the way their new Full Size SUVs did, will be a hit. There isn't anything out there better than the new Tahoe for what it is. Can that translate to these crossovers? Not sure.

The Acadia is also bigger than the Pilot, 13 inches longer! 30 more cubic feet of cargo compared to pilot with the 2nd and 3rd row folded flat. It's basically a minivan size inside, suv look outside.

oh and I say no to Chrome too.

M3

Dave, I do realize some families need a larger vehicle that'll carry more passengers and cargo, but not a minivan. What about the good old-fashioned station wagons, the Caprice and Crown Vic wagons? With today's better engines and suspension designs they'd drive better, yet not be so TALL as to block every other driver's view. They'd also be easier to get in and out of. Dodge is close with the Magnum, but it still only seats 5.

Happymantis

I think M3 is right, I think its about time the station wagon made a comeback... I looked all over the market for a decent station wagon, but there really wasn't much of a choice, so I decided to get a 06 RAV4, although an even more frugal wagon would have been appreciated.
Corolla Wagon anyone?

Gary

We've owned Honda's, Mazda's and GM vehicles and let's just say that we will NEVER own a GM vehicle again. Been there done that twice with two GM SUV's and the story is always the same, 'New and improved', 'Class leading', 'Largest in it's class...'

If I won one of these p.o.s. I would eBay it in a heartbeat. My money is best spent with Toyota and Honda. Those two know how to sweat the details.

John

Good for you, Gary. Have fun with Honda.
Life's too short to be close-minded.

well station wagons can't fit more than 5. the Subaru Outback/legacy and Mazda6 Wagon come to mind as good choices. But besides those you have to go up to Audi, Volvo, BMW territory to find line-ups of wagons. Ford just discontinued the Focus wagon because it wasn't selling well. The move is more to small hatches like the Dodge Caliber.

And I can't tell you guys how often you hear from real shoppers they want to sit up high, have tons of space and don't want minivans or gas guzzling suvs. That's why I think this will do well. Plus its not so bad looking.

Carrie

We have a GMC Safari and it's time to trade up. have five kids who go with us wherever we go, so the options out there that are afforable are few and far between. Lots of hockey and boys at 6'2" need lots of room. will this accomodate? time will tell.....YukonXL looks good, but the price? Ouch...
