The 2007 Hyundai Tiburon's Face-lift

Tiburon1

A few weeks ago, we got an early look at the new 2007 Hyundai Tiburon and showed you how the exterior had changed slightly from the 2006 model. Now we have a handful of new photos of the sports coupe to show you. There’s still not much in the way of information on the car itself, other than it will carry over most of the same mechanics and trim levels from 2006, with minor updates. It’s not a mind-blowing debut, but unlike a lot of others in Paris, it will be on sale here in the U.S.

I think Hyundai could have drastically updated the Tiburon. It's getting to be a little long in the teeth, and if they're going to get more new buyers, they need to jazz it up some.

I agree. This is the third face we've seen in this body style. That's quite a few, considering it's only been around since 2003.

Is it just me, or does the NEW Tiburon remind you a lot of the OLD Mercury Cougar. Granted, the rear end treatment is much better here. Still, the design team had a chance here to do something really different and they didn't. Still looks nice enough though.

That's a good point. They're not the same, but I definitely get the cougar vibe here. At least the tail lights aren't as hideous as they were on the Cougar.

The rear end actually makes me think of the Cobalt for some reason. Overall, I hate this design. It's missing something, but I can't put my finger on it. That, and I keep wanting to put a coin in that slot-shaped gap in front of the radiator.

It's not bad. I don't personally like it. I have a 06 SE and I think my design is far better. I don't understand why they can't their bigger engines in the tib. Like even the 3.3 V6. It's supposed to be their sportscar yet they don't even tune the 2.7L to give it more power. Versions of the same 2.7L in other Hyundai and Kia models have up to 20hp more. Just irritates me. Tib is beautiful car that could of had alot more potential.

I own a 2000 Tiburon and have been planning to trade it in around March when it hits 100k miles. I was looking at Eclipse & Scion TC until I saw this! I hate the 2002 - 2006 front end. It looks sad and weak. They finally fixed that with this more aggressive looking headlight design. I can't wait til it shows up at the dealer... I'm all over it!

Let's be realistic here. It's not a high performance sports car! It good car that looks cool and it a great value.

roadster

Well fit it with a nice spoiler and a bumper it will look great with that HID.

Jeremiah

It's nice but they need to do something about the engine. Like 3.3 V6 supercharged or turbo charged plus all whell drive that would make it a great car

THIS MIDLIFE REFRESH ISN'T AS INVITING AS THE OTHER REDOS FROM HYUNDAI. THE APPEARANCE HAS A MORE SPORTIER EDGE, BUT WHERE THE TIBURON FALLS BEHIND IS IN PERFORMANCE; PERFERABLY WHERE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE FOCUSED ON. SUGGESTIONS: 3.3 OR 3.8 V6 WITH OFFERINGS MAKING OVER 250+ HP, 6 SPEED STICK/AUTO, NAV SYSTEM W/REAL-TIME TRAFFIC, THE WORKS FOR A COMPETITIVE PRICE AMONG OTHER CAR COMPANIES.

i agree and dissagree with all of you, i dont like the new bumper, but that can be changed with a body kit. i do like the new headlights, im not neccessarily saying its better than the 2005-2006 style headlights but its pretty nice. as for power... lets put it this way, i have a 2006 gtv6 model, all the mods ive done are catback exhaust and intake and theres barely a car around that can hang with me where im from. but im not even close to done moding it. anyway my point is, all the things that you dont like, you can change. as for everything else, thats why this is such a great car

bignin

i think the rear looks like a dodge neon with euro tail lamps

bignin

and that coin slot on the front bumper can also be seen on the toyota celica

listen guys.. this car is stock that you see. anything can be made AWD (all wheel drive) and this car's spoiler can easilly be changed.. the engine compartment seems large enough to be able to fit an upgrade or two. all in all this car is great.. and what.. 3 grand to change the transmision and diffs? so what.. anyone who wants this car to last them their lives and be a winter car would spend that.. anyone else shouldent be rapping off. i like the car, and if i had one myself, i would most definitly turn it AWD, and i would lower the diffs, giver a paint job and do a minute bit (small amount) of work.

hazmatt2006

Im sorry, but within reason you cant turn any car into AWD... i suppose if you have the money then yea, but then whats the point of getting a low end sports car, just get an EVO or STI

Rek Swazey

I own a 2007 GT...I absolutely love it!

flo

i got a 2007 gt v6 5 speed with a short ram intake and it pulls on a lot of cars i agree with a larger motorthe 3.3 would be perfect. But for the price its a phenomenal car. any truth to the rumor of a supercharger upgrade ?

Jason

I really like the looks of the Tiburon, but I don't care for the grille on the 2007. I thought it looked better of the 2006. I don't know about the slot--although I agree the opening in the 2006 needed to be updated, I don't know if the slot is the answer. When I see one on the road, I can say whether or not I like it.

However, I have to agree that the engine AND handling need to be greatly improved. As others have said, this is Hyundai's sports car and it sure doesn't look like it is on paper. Great looks, though. In the April 2007 edition of Car and Driver, the Tiburon GT was .3 seconds slower than the car I own (Mazda3S--note, not the MazdaSpeed, just the S trim). And the skidpad was .84 for the Tiburon vs. .85 on the Mazda. So, the Tiburon is slower, doesn't handle as well and has a base price of $2K more than the Mazda.

Hyundai, you got a looker, now give her some legs.

friendlyuser1

I LIKE THE RIMS !

other than that, i think this styling is way past its prime, its time for a change, a real change, the koreans and japs r struggling with design these days.
Mazda has got it rite though.
the RX-8, MX-5, MAZDA6, CX-9 all super kool with high quality beautiful interiors.

carl

I would have to say its a damn good lookin car it's not fast but that can be changed and for the price why not?
